HyperFIDO Titanium U2F Security Key The HyperFIDO Titanium U2F Security key enables seamless authentication to websites and browser based applications such as Google's GMail. It is fully compliant with the FIDO Alliance U2F specification. About FIDO U2F How it works: User carries U2F device with built-in support in web browsers then user presents U2F device. Website can simplify password (e.g. – 4 digit pin). The user logs in with a username and password as before. The service can also prompt the user to present a second factor device at any time it chooses. The strong second factor allows the service to simplify its passwords (e.g. 4–digit PIN) without compromising security. During registration and authentication, the user presents the second factor by simply pressing the black button on the 2FA USB device or tapping over NFC. The user can use their FIDO U2F key across all online services that support the protocol leveraging built–in support in web browsers. The FIDO protocols use standard public key cryptography techniques to provide stronger authentication. During registration with an online service, the user’s client device creates a new key pair. It retains the private key and registers the public key with the online service. Authentication is done by the client device proving possession of the private key to the service by signing a challenge. The client’s private keys can be used only after they are unlocked locally on the device by the user. The local unlock is accomplished by pressing the button on the HyperFido. About FIDO Alliance The FIDO Alliance Board of Directors includes leading global organizations such as Alibaba, ARM, Bank of America, Discover, Google, Lenovo, MasterCard Microsoft, PayPal and Visa Inc.

Description wrong. No NFC.
Although the following quote can be found in the description on this page, there is no NFC. The description is wrong."During registration and authentication, the user presents the second factor by simply pressing the black button on the 2FA USB device or *tapping over NFC*."

Looks to be previously used/initiated
Device came with no tamper seal and it looks as if it has already been used. Security devices used for authentication should never have indicators of previous use.

Not working/discoverable on Macs.
Got it for my Macs. Not recognized by ANY of the USB ports. Tried to actually register it using their own site - NOT DISCOVERABLE. It may work for a PC system, but certainly NOT for Mac. I am returning the product.

Never could get their app to see their devices.
I bought 2 different models, this one and the mini....and both are worthless junk!I jumped thru all the hoops... Downloading and installing the Windows app.At the site I downloaded the "HELP / How Tos" files and watched and even downloaded the videos how to set these up. Did a sign in and got keys... what ever..Started the app... plugged in each, one at a time, and pushed the button to activate, looked at their opened app, and did not see the device listed, HyperFIDO Titanium...Did the same with the Mini, plugged in, pushed button, with app open and NOTHING listed in opened app.Wrote "support" and no reply!Actually forgot about them, since I went and bought 2 Yubikeys.Waited a few months, and TRIED the whole waste of time over again. Went to site did all that I was told to do and redownloaded software and installed, and plugged in HyperFIDO Titanium ticked the button, and nothing listed in app ... same with the mini....Wrote "support" AGAIN about the issue and NO REPLY! AGAIN!I don't even believe they have any "support?" Well not for me anyway! So I went with Yubikey and FANTASTIC! Able to configure both keys, and does what it is suppose to do! And they have "support!"

Security begets freedom. This is a military grade anti-paranoia peripheral.
Works with Windows. Great for Google 2-step verification. Linux would not accept the device due to driver incompatibility on a Budgie variant OS. Did not test on OSX but assume it works just fine. I have a much more secure Gmail account due to this device. I advise setting up 2-step verification first. Then revoke all access from trusted devices in case you're already currently compromised. Finally, enable a backup method for signing in. The best option is Google Authenticator, however printing backup codes saved to a secure flash drive can work as a lesser option. Beware of using phone verification. Data thieves with cloned phone capability can intercept your phone call, text, and login verification. That will be all. Dismissed.

Does what it needs to, but definitely not a plug and go item. Software was needed for LastPass and Google to recognize it.

Broke while carrying after two weeks. Don’t buy
For a key that touts itself as a titanium key, this little bugger lost it’s electronics insides after being on my keychain for less than two weeks. All that was left is the titanium shell. When you factor in the fact that I could barely insert it into standard USB ports, because of how tight it was, and you get one star, although I’d prefer to give zero. You get the point.

Does the job.
I was looking for a rugged FIDO key and this more or less is what that does. Very strong housing but the fact that they used a rubber button as opposed to a metal contact really defeats the whole purpose of a rugged device. Being that they advertise this as a durable device, the rubber button is inexcusable.Works with Chrome and GMail for two factor authentication. Tested it with other browsers and it failed on Firefox but that I blame on FF not this device.

Wow. A new problem with a usb device.
I remember getting a new computer in 1999. It was very exciting, it ran windows 98 and this meant I could use one of these usb joy sticks to play racing games. Some 19 years later instead to think how many usb devices I have owned over the years. Amazon order history reveals over 60 usb related orders this year so far. Over these few thousand devices and cables I have used, there is a problem I have yet to encounter. Even in usb devices that have been through washing machines, being left under heavy items and just chucked in bags. And that is a usb device that is too big to fit into the usb slot. This device has allowed me to come across this situation. It is just too large to fit in the slots of my computer. But is this just a weird computer? It also won't fit on my hub, cigarette lighter adapter (I had one in my bag) or anything else. The device is actually the wrong size. How useless.

cheap as chips
a good, rugged key so that sign-ins are easy wherever you are.i don`t like the keys you can get which are all exposed despite their claims to be indestructable, this one is unfussy and solidly made.doesn`t have all the features of more expensive keys, but that`s why they`re more expensive.shame that amazon hasn`t adopted fido yet, but when they do i`ll be ready.

Just works
Reading some of the reviews for this product and given the relatively low price compared to competitors like Yubikey, I expected one or two issues. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it just worked with every operative system that I used. I found that Chrome and Firefox have built in support for FIDO U2F and offer a completely seamless experience on Windows, Mac and Linux. On Windows I additionally tried it with Microsoft Edge and the mobile version of Chrome worked seamlessly on Android using a USB on-the-go adapter. The device is well built and the design lends itself to sit on a key ring. While it is a snug fit, I did not experience any problems plugging it into the USB ports on my various devices.FIDO U2F is still relatively new and some website (including sadly Last Pass) have been slow to adopt it.

Reszension
