Sony ICF-C1 Digital Clock Radio (Black)

I brought it for my mother, who is not tech savvy at all. The display is digital and so is the setting. However, the volume control and the fm tuning is via a knob and this is absolutely what I needed.Everyday we wake up to the soothing sounds of early morning religious saying. The alarm once activated, plays the fm for about an hour and then stops.You can also start up the radio separately and has separate buttons for starting and stopping the radio. There's also a function of beeping (alarm) but I have never used it. Why to buy a fm radio clock to wake up to a beep beep?My house is pretty big and the clock is my living room, yet the sound at full blast is enough to be heard from the 1st floor bedrooms. I had initial apprehensions if this small teeny beeny device would make itself heard. But usually, mornings are quiet and so it works wonderfully. Another thing is noticed was speech and sharp sounds are played very clearly but bass intensive songs/channels crack at max volume. Also, the reception of the channel matters a lot in clarity. Since the tuning is manual, it takes a bit of effort to get it right the first time and then you leave it alone.The clock looks very elegant and it flexible to go with any decor, be it be traditional or modern. The display is absolutely glare free and even when the room is dark, the display doesn't seem to hurt the eyes.Initially, I brought a Phillips radio fm alarm clock. However, that kept on resetting the time. Initially, I thought perhaps my power supply was faulty.But this one works without any trouble.This is highly recommended.I'm writing thus review after an month or so and thus, I know there is no hidden problem with this one.

This is not a good product. Most shocking part is that, though it looks like digital, but it is not digital radio. Means we have to adjust the radio frequency with round button. Current radio frequency also is not getting displayed anywhere. We have to just keep on adjusting forward and backward till we get correct voice. Otherwise we will not know you are on which frequency. That display is only for alarm, I guess, which I didn't try. I am much interested in alarm feature. Moving round button for radio frequency was very irritating for me. There should be a digital way for setting frequency. One more thing is that antenna is simple wire, unlike other radio steel antenna. We have tie that wire antenna somewhere, otherwise we will not get correct voice. I was hating this thing as well.

This is a basic alarm clock with a crystal clear display of time and alarm funtion which can be triggerred of with a buzzer or a radio. I too was hesitant in buying the product after reading a couple of negative reviews which were actually misleading.The fact is as mentioned earlier a very basic radio with both AM/FM tuning which is not available with other clock radios. If you are fond of AM i.e MW then you should go ahead and purchase as it a best bargain on can get online and trust me these radios are not readily available in shops.Considering Sony the sound is good do not expect a high fidelity surround but a nice crystal clear voice with reasonable volume. It does not have a digital tuner as many expect looking at the clock display but the image if you zoom and have a look, it is seen very clearly and they have mentioned it though, still many buy it and then write negative.The display clock is easily visible from a distance of around 10 ft as well in the night. I would recommend it as it comprises of AM tuner as well. With regards to tuning it all depends on the signal if currently you face problem in radio reception in your location this too will have a similar problem , so do not expect miracle that just because you brought a new radio it should receive a crystal clear reception. Just an analogy if you face problem with mobile signal then whichever brand of mobile you use you are bound the face the same problem - the radio is also similar and works on the signal strength. I am writing a positive review as I do not want radio lovers to be deprived of a good product and that too working on an IC technology.

Device is ok. But what I am expected is different. It’s mainly we can use for as a digital clock.

Sony's clock Radio is the good old style gadget which does what its supposed to do, perfectly. The display is bright and clearly visible even from long distances like over 15 feet. The brightness can be adjusted, it looks cool and the sound quality of the radio simply blows out Amazon's echo dot and google home mini together with exceptional clarity and sound quality. The provided backup battery is placed on the top side of the box while opening, which you might miss if not watching carefully.

There is always more that could be desired when it comes to this product, such as a detachable, longer range AM antenna, an easier to use tuner, a better quality plug-in, battery operation, 12 hour mode, the list can go on. That being said, like the old school clock radios, it does the basics very well, and you can calmly wake up to Akashvani playing in the morning. The product is certainly far from perfect, but given the limited options of clock-radios available in the Indian market, it is a satisfying purchase.

The product has one big problem that it says the time is maintained using a cell but it does not seem to be true in my caseSeller please reply if I can add a button cell here
