The Secrets to Creating Amazing Photos: 83 Composition Tools from the Masters (Photography Book) Paperback – May 15, 2018

I never really understood the composition techniques that I had read about. The entire subject seemed so confusing so when it said that this was easy I had to get it. Yes, The Secrets to Creating Amazing Photos: 83 Composition Tools from the Masters, seemed to me like a recipe book. I keep it in my camera bag!My composition immediately improved and seems suitable for all levels of photographers. My husband is a semi-pro and he said the cleared up some misconceptions he had.I looked Marc Silber up and signed up for his mailing list and now I get photography tips from him all the time. So helpful.

This is a wonderful book on composition. Of course there are the well known compositional tools, but what I especially loved were the mood lines explained and with photos to help understand them more. I've seen these diagrams before but could never quite put my head around a lot of them. Marc has them described and photos to show the mood. And then of course, you can begin to look for these lines in nature, portraits, landscapes etc. ......it's a useful book, one to take with you and study and practice over and over until it becomes second nature. Highly recommend this book to beginners and professional photographers as well

The author discusses directing attention or creating a mood in photographs through the use of various types of lines. He gives examples for each line or form he identifies. In many cases, the connection between his discussion and examples are clear and convincing. However in several instances, I could not see such a connection. This book is useful, but also is short and concentrates on one aspect of composition of a photograph.

Full of nicely composed teaching that delves deeply into how to change and evolve how I see the process of image creation with specific changes to my techniques that have stepped up my art significantly. A very helpful, actionable and inspiring tool to take you to a new level.

I got this book after the review published by Ken Rockwell. It really is nothing groundbreaking, and I am not sure if Ken is right on this one. Anyways, Mark has made some good points in the book. However, my biggest misgiving about the book is the sample images or the lack there of. The quality of images used for illustrating the different rules of composition is really not that great, and I wish Marc has used some better examples.

The title of the book doesn't immediately give you an indication of the valuable information contained in it. Unlike most photography books that either show you pretty pictures or discuss technical settings of the camera, this book presents 83 composition tools used by photographers and master painters to create an image. In other words, it's a book you can use to create more powerful photographic images. It's easy to read and provides photographic images to demonstrate each composition tool.

For me being a novice in the field of photography I was able to put the concepts in the book to use and my photos are looking better with the help and advice. I am sure any one could find some benefit from the read. I recommend it.

Would have liked more, but what was there was good. I can see how the paperback might be better than the kindle as something to keep with your photography kit by way of inspiration.
