HELIOCARE Gel UV – 250 ml

Love this product and have used it for years with the 50ml size lasting me about 6 months with one application a day. However, don't buy the 250ml size, they only sent me 50ml and the seller has a No Returns policy, so having failed to obtain a refund via Amazon Chat I had to make a (charged) phone call to get my money back.

I tried using this because another reviewer said it helped to control a specific skin reaction to UV (polymorphic light eruptions, PLE). I can't yet tell if it's 100% successful in that respect, but it certainly seems to limit the problem so I would second that claim and will continue to use it for that purpose. Definitely worth trying if that's your aim, and if you are more disciplined in it's application (which I'm not), you will probably achieve better results.As a straight forward sun block, it's brilliant. I burn easily, but recently I spent an entire day out in full, hot sun at an airshow (which I would normally never do); no hat and legs exposed. I only used light amounts of this stuff. Everyone said I looked like I was burning badly and that I would be in trouble the next day. I'll admit that I was going a fairly worrying shade of red but it just didn't feel like I was burning. Sure enough, I got away with it COMPLETELY unscathed. That's the first time that's happened, so in that respect this formulation is utterly amazing in my opinion.

More of a gel cream so it makes your skin look a bit shiny. It also rubs off quite easily and as it's tinted, it stains your clothes. But it is very good for sensitive, reactive skin, I got a great tan and my skin looked amazing after a week of using it. Now use it as a daily moisturiser as I found it calms down my irritable skin.

Said 250 ml but only 50 ml. No chance to return. Outrageous.

This was recommended to me by my dermatologist when undergoing treatment for acne with Roaccutane, which makes your skin extremely sun sensitive, you have to either keep out of the sun or wear a sun cream with a very high sun protection factor. Putting this on enabled me to go on holiday in Spain in the height of summer without burning, despite at that point having been on the drug for several months so by that time my skin was extremely sun sensitive. I have continued to use it after the treatment and now would not buy anything else, I am very fair so can never go out in the sun without sun protection.It is very light on the skin and I can use it on my face and body, and it does not leave a greasy feel, or white cast like most creams of this type do. It also does not stain clothes, or make your hair greasy.

I love this gel, I have been using it since I was 18 years old and its been my go-to since. Really good for oily skin as it is a gel and would recommend with a nice moisturiser for dry skin. Smells lovely and doesn't leave a white caste on the skin. You only need a pea size amount a day with this gel, so the bottle lasts forever - Great value and quality.

I purchased this specifically because it contains Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide.The goood:For the 200ml size, i think the price is reasonable.It applies smoothly, does not leave a white mask and is not greasy.The bad:I used this on my face and hands.Face: After some time (perhaps due to me touching my eyelids with traces of the sunscreen on?) my eyes were extremely irritated. I woke up the following morning with very red eyes and it took most of the next day for the redness and irritation to subside. I have not had this problem with any other sunscreens (which do not have Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide) which I use religiously every day. I assume the irritation could be because of these minerals present but I can't say for sure. I had to discontinue using it and go back to my old sunscreen.Hands: I coated both hands liberally with this sunscreen but despite this in just a few hours out in the sun, my hands are visibly tanned.

Love this sun protection gel, light and easy to wear every day under my makeup. I have very pale 'celtic' skin and love hill walking, this is the first sun protection I have found that stops burning and doesn't leave you with that washed out look and is also non sticky and pleasant to wear.Another plus for me is that I suffer from eczema and am not reacting to this gel, despite using it daily for nearly a month now!
