Good value and useful.
I’m rubbish at maths, so anything that will get children engaged in the subject is a good thing in my opinion.Positives: Arrived in minimal packaging with age guidance and safety warning clearly displayed. Very interactive, bright colours and a range of resources to help children understand fractions and percentages. Dry wipe pen and eraser included. Drawstring bag included for storing the magnetic pieces when they’ve been detached from the card. Good quality materials.Negatives: All the interactive resources are loose when the flap is opened. There is no guidance for adults regarding which activities to start with or how to help most effectively. There is only one whiteboard pen. The box states aged 3+ but I think that might be a bit optimistic. When I first opened this, I was momentarily at a loss for how to use it because there is no guidance whatsoever. I then discovered that the activity boards were folded but I’m still not sure what the starting point should be. It’s a shame that only one whiteboard pen is included but they’re not expensive to buy if you have more than one child engaging in the activity. There are 6 exercise cards, which is good but once completed, you’ll have to come up with your own ideas for using the other resources. I like this item and I think it’s good value for money.

Well-made and useful - a tad pricey
I tested this fractions set on my four-year-old tester and she took to it straightaway. She has only just started at junior school but has progressed very quickly to the point where she can do basic mental arithmetic. I was fascinated to see her work out where to put all the magnetic elements without any help from me and she quickly grasped the concept of dividing something up into so many pieces and then adding them up to make a whole. The quality of the printing is good and the die-cutting is very accurate; the individual pieces all popped out very easily. With a little help she was able to start trying out a few of the exercise sheets and liked using the pen. She's obviously a bit too young to tackle the more advanced concepts but the tools are all there to make learning about fractions and percentages an interesting challenge and maintain some focus.I think this a good educational tool - it's well-presented, if a little pricey.
