UFO Series 1 & 2 [DVD] [2018]

Loved it when it first appeared on our TV screens and still love it today. Happy memories

This was one of my favourite TV series in my youth. Gerry and Sylvia Anderson were innovative in their craft. UFO had good plots, imagination and, given the age, some great special effects. The quality of the video isn't great on the DVD but I guess that is also part of the charm of reliving old TV programs. Fans of Sc-Fi should watch this. Highly recommended.

Amazing to watch these again and without adverts! So much better and have aged reasonably well, with the electric cars now a reality, more UFO reports these days, and so much undercover of news blackouts.... was telling us the future, thankfully computers have got a lot smarter and sound better than S.I.D. ever did. I am glad that we don't have to wear the costumes too!

Modern TV series can learn a thing or two by watching UFO. It was diverse without trying to be, Sexy without going over the top, competent actors and actresses, dark/dry humour without overdoing it no sinister ideologies (looking at you Amazon with power of the rings) and good theme music, what more do you want?

With the Network Blu Ray's now going for rather high prices how does this compare? Although I haven't seen the Blu Ray version I can say this DVD remaster is still in my opinion an excellent quality picture. UFO is a classic piece of TV and although I only recall seeing the occasional episode as a child I have seen most of the episodes now and I think I appreciated it more now. Along with the first series of Space 1999 (which I have got on Blu Ray) I have to confess to enjoying these more than Thunderbirds (shock, horror!) which I have also recently watched every episode of. UFO in particular has a slightly dark side to some of the stories so on balance it was probably more for an older viewing audience. Frankly at the price this set costs it is incredible value for money!

Loved this in my youth and this is just amazing from the days where quality programs were at their peak of excellence. The plot is brilliant and the characters acting and performance is top rate.

I used to watch UFO as a kid so it is a great nostalgia trip to be able to watch it again. And those clothing fashions - wow! - very much of a time. Gerry Anderson was so far ahead of his time scientifically - a lot of things that we now take for granted he was thinking of way back then (late 60's) e.g. a lunar module that launches from an aeroplane (see Virgin Galactic), making/taking calls via your watch, video calling, a transporter plane that looks like an A380 etc. Great stuff!

First mention and as another person mentioned there are eight disc's not one.Another mention is these disc's are pal format not ntsc. so you do have to have a region free dvd player to play them or they most likely will play on a PC which is what i used to rip them to digital movies and can now watch them on my TV. And lastly as someone else mentioned the episodes are not in order and seem randomly written to the dvds which will require a little research or use a program called file bot if you care about viewing in order. Otherwise the price was very reasonable and this was a great trip down memory lane.
