Will keep buying Gerber
Bought to replace a 20 year-old MP600. Hopefully this lasts the next 20.

Good value
My first pair was given to me by a soldier in Iraq. The government provides one in each kit. I’ve used it for years. I bought this one to add to my bug out bag. For the price can’t be beat.

Not Worth It
Nothing on this multitool seems high quality. The pliers are hard to open. Tools are just ok. Locks for the tools seem like they are going to break every time I use them. Blade does not say RemGrit on it like the older models did. Product is made in China, not USA. I like Gerber products. I own quite a few of their knives and also have the Multiforce. Cannot recommend this one.

Gerber vs Leatherman: similar but different; different=good
The dominant multi-tool on the market is likely the Leatherman Wave. The Gerber has two main advantages versus the Leatherman (and one weakness). The first advantage is that all the tools lock (not so for the Leatherman though the blade locks). A locking blade is clearly desirable, but a nice feature for other tools as well. The second advantage is the strength of the pliers. It's hard to see from the image, but the pliers retract into the handle versus the Wave where the handles unfold to expose the pliers. Having looked at both before buying the Gerber, I suspect (but am not sure) that the strength of the Gerber design is greater. While the Leatherman's pliers have a pivot for each arm (plus the center pivot), the Gerber only has the center pivot. This strength leads to the one weakness - that the pliers have to be opened to access any of the other tools (while with the Leatherman you can get at the blade without opening the whole tool). Both are fine tools, what sold me on the Gerber is how the pliers retract and the cool sound it makes when you deploy the pliers and they lock into place - a very solid, satisfying metal thunk. Hint: to make sure that you can deploy with one hand, rub a little candle wax into the plier channels in the handle. Also the scissors are made by Fiskar - a specialty scissor maker - nice and sharp. Besides, it's sometimes nice to have something slightly different from what everyone else has.

Lockable turn out tools a plus.
Tool is same quality as older version I broke after 15+ years use, A good tool.

Missing pieces.
I bought the $90 15 tool version of this product. I received the multi-tool in an opened box without the extra tools that I paid for. Amazon just sends me to Gerber and Gerber doesn't answer the phone or did they do anything through their warranty department automated system. It is clear that someone either at the factory or at Amazon's end opened up the box and stole the tools. Neither of them will either reimburse me or send me the missing tools.Gerber makes mostly good stuff but if they take your money and don't give you what you pay for I will be staying away from their products and may even kill my Amazon prime membership now. Nowadays, there are other places to shop. ARE YOU LISTENING AMAZON?

Useful for more than you think...
These have always been a mechanic's fidget, but it also reminds me of the past. In the military, we would use these to disable the MILES gear or put it into god mode during training, at least until an OC would catch on. I purchased this style for the main purpose of ease of opening as it was designed to be done one handed.
