England Has One Funny Comedian - And He's Smart!
Eddie Izzard is one of the most interesting comics I have seen in a long time. He is from England and has that sharp wit and satirical sharpness that would make anyone one who is even somewhat sensible (or intelligent) laugh out loud. He has also done some acting and been featured in movies like The Avengers, Mystery Men and Oceans Twelve as well as others. His insights into history, religion, American Culture and even our own presidents are amazingly accurate - if not someone satirical with a resounding ring of "truth". What makes you laugh is not the fact that he is the self proclaim "Executive Transvestite" (he likes women) - but the way in which he tells the ironies of history. Questions that, now in hindsight, we can ask not and actually say, "what were they thinking".His color visions and interpretations and even impressions are astonishingly humorous and right on target. He does where a dress and high heals and make-up too, but he addresses all of that as well. He even plays with the audience and tells a few stories that are true - well maybe not - well yes they are - well then again......it's hysterical watching him do that! This particular concert was done in San Francisco and back in 1999. It has to be the funniest of the bunch - although his other concerts are as sharp as this one! He has a great time even with the San Francisco natives as well. You can tell he knows what he is talking about because of the audience's reactions and hysterical laughter. This DVD extras have something unique. The commentary is in two different languages. English and French. Also there is a whole separate concert on this DVD that he did in France and yes it is all in French. Directed by Lawrence Jorden, a renowned director of music videos, concerts and TV Specials including - Barry Manilow, Duran Duran, John Mellencamp, Dave Mathews, David Bowie and many more - this concert works on Many levels. This DVD is fun, funny and intelligent. If you like intelligent humor - this concert is for you! You'll watch it over and over and stil laugh every time! LORENZO - (FEB 2006)

One of the funniest Intellectual comedian's I've seen
I saw this originally so many years ago, and waited one night to copy it by VCR. I wore out my VCR copy. Then wore out my DVD. Now I have it on digital! Everything he commented on was something my family totally understood. And we still laugh to this day.

Not the HBO show I was expecting
I love Eddie Izzard and used to have a VHS tape of this show. The DVD is longer and some of it isn't as edited as it was on my VHS cassette, but Eddie is hysterical. I love him and this is probably his best work. I especially like the last 15 minutes or so which are in French! Even though I don't speak French, I understood every word and thought it was hysterical! Love you Eddie!

The Best
It's hard to describe Eddie Izzard to people who've never seen him before. I was flipping channels once and came across an English transvestite (excuse me, "executive transvestite") doing a comedy routine in Alcatraz prison. I stopped flipping channels, and, for the next two hours, almost died laughing. Izzard's humor is unique and it works on many levels. A lot of comedians target a particular demographic. Their humor can be too trite or too low-brow or too high-brow for some. Not Eddie. On the one hand, he's clearly intelligent and educated and his comedy contains much that will tickle even the most intellectual of viewers. But he combines this with good old-fashioned silliness and dead-on impressions that he will have the most slack-jawed luddite in stitches.Even as I type this, I'm laughing to myself thinking about several of his routines ("Cake or death?") and will probably go home and watch it again. And that's the reason why I recommend the DVD. A lot of standup humor is funny the first time, but loses its edge. Eddie's improves. I laughed *more* the second time I saw it.Buy it. You'll love it. I can't wait until his next performance.

Still Funny After All These Years
It had been several years since we sat down to watch Eddie do his thing in Dress to Kill. We were a bit surprised to learn that at the time, Britain was thinking about joining the EU and now have voted to Brexit. We had problems with terrorism, but not to the point it is at this time. It might have been a little dated in places, but for the most part, he was still on the mark with politics, history, his hilarious geography, being a transvestite, hiding his makeup in a squirrel hole, "cake or death?", do you have a flag? and all the wonderful and hilarious things he has to say. We had a blast reliving the dvd and I will have it with me to visit the rest of my family so they can enjoy it again. Thanks Eddie!

Top notch
The comedian is British, but his humor transcends borders...in the English-speaking world, at any rate. I saw a different iteration of mostly the same routine about 18 years ago, and this one still brought tears of laughter to me.

AZKABAN!!
a brilliant script, wonderful detours into the realms of Izzard fantasy and...so, yeah!although the audience let Eddie down in this performance, with the SF never quite seeming to get the jokes early on, i feel that there must have been someone handing around alcohol becuase towards teh end, they were less a town of snakes, and more a town of hysterical laughing maniacs (escaped mental patients probably)the mixture of history and non-history help to give a fantastic performance, although knowing about the history he talks about does make the jokes extra funny. otherwise you will end up like the lost San Fran (ooohhhh sssss)audience.it is really a fantastic chance to see Izzard at his best, this is one of the best, only comparable to Definite article.A must have for anyone remotely with a sense of humour!

Best Eddie Izzard ever -but buy all of them anyway!
Dress To Kill (D2K) is the best of Eddies Humor, which is the best Britain has to offer. His confidence to address and guide the audience into a surreal and intelligent world, is so refreshing. Eddie Izzard delivers fresh and original comedy by the ton - Jasper Carrot sites Eddie Izzard as the reason he returned to Stand Up, saying that until Izzard made a show out of it stand up was not going anywhere. He is right; with professional them emusic, backdrops, camera settings and much more, this is a professionally made video for fans and those new to Izzard humour. I bought Dress 2 Kill 2 years ago, it was so good I drove from Southend to Cardiff to see him one night. I now have all his videos and can probably recite D2K off by heart. but when it mangled, the first thing I did was order another copy. D2K is a timeless masterpiece of stand up.

One of his best
Izzard is probably at his peak here.Hugely enjoyable. His observational comedy is not to everyones liking but his wide wanderings over many subjects and tangent taking excursions are just superb here.Very Funny

Remove price stickers
No complaints about the product itself; box, disc and bookley were all near perfect condition.Although it may be a wise idea to remove any previous pricing from the box BEFORE sending it out. Given that I paid Β£3+ for it, finding an AgeUK sticker on the back with '25p' penned into it is a bit dodgy.
