Great Unun for HF Bands
This is a very nice little transformer (BH7JYR Jaycar cored design) for EFHW antennas. I finally got around to testing and using it, and I must say that I am impressed for a $30 device. I ended up using it on a 40-10m EFFW, and it works pretty well. I am attaching bunch of graphs (in the field and the LAB tests) to show its performance. Although it is a 64:1 unun, it really behaves more like a 49:1 device. In testing it had the best performance at ~2250 ohm load, although it is not very different at the advertised 3200 ohms (efficiency drops about 3-4% across the bands) All in all, this unun will lose you about 0.2 S-units, which is insignificant. I initially tuned the antenna with ends at 30 and 35 feet high, but when the second end was raised to 60ft, the tuning was unaffected. My antenna has a 1.26uH compensation coil located 2m from the transformer (13 turns of 16AWG wire on 0.625” PVC former). Antenna wire is stranded 16AWG. The counterpoise is 2m long, in line with the antenna, and is connected to a hose clamp mounted to the PL259 shell. I also tried 3m and 4m with insignificant difference. The CM choke is located at the feed point (9 turns of coax on FT240-31), but I also have one close to the rig to prevent RF from feeding into the computer stuff (12 turns of coax on FT240-43). You may not need this, but my station is only 20ft away from the counterpoise, so 20m band was getting thru. A pleasant surprise was that the antenna ended being resonant on 80m. Not the best SWR at 2:1 or better across the band, but workable. It is not the coax length (I tried different lengths with no difference), but the interaction of the xformer and the antenna structure. However the input impedance is way off there, so the efficiency will suck. I would mostly say the same for 10m band, but the rest seems to work very well. Using my transceiver ATU I can easily load up 60, 30, 17, 12m bands too, but I expect with terrible efficiency. You really need an 80m wire version to do this well. You can easily run 150W CW into this on 40-15m bands, and the Jaycar core doesn’t really get very warm at all. If running FT8, I would not do more than 80W. Although the housing has integral rubber grommet, my suggestion is to open it up, and apply a bead of RTV along the edges, and then button it up. It will never leak. The housing is ABS plastic, which does not have the best UV resistance. Changing it to ASA would make it impervious to UV, at few cents difference at the molder (suggestion to the manufacturer). In summary, it works great, easy to deploy, and nothing bad to say about it. Frankly, if I were making my own, it would actually cost me more. See the attached graphs, and good luck.

Outstanding Un-Un (Superb Value!)
This works very well as advertised. Tunes all bands (harmonics of the fundamental). I use 40 meters (66 foot driven sloper) and this tunes all harmonics better than 1.2 SWR. Amazing gadget and can be installed in minutes. This is a fine antenna maker. I have worked South Africa and Eastern Russia from Virginia. Case is well made and certainly waterproof enough to leave it in my backyard for years!

Works incredibly well and handles 100w+ even on digital!!
I was a little hesitant initially as I've never built an antenna but I used this to make a 20m inverted V Dipole with some 20G stranded PTFE wire and I cut each leg to 16.7" and then checked it with a NanoVNA-H4 which had shown me it was tuned a little low so I cut about 3" off each leg and bam it was resonant at 20m with an SWR=1.08!!!! at 50ohms which is basically perfect, within minutes I was getting contacts from around the world coming in crystal clear, its honestly insane how good this super simple antenna works, if your looking for an very simple and cheap antenna that will at minimun tune perfect on a single frequency then this is really the best option, You can easily change the lengths of wire to suit what ever frequency you plan on using, I have not tested how it would work multiband with a super long piece of wire, but thats the next test. Either way this is a no brainer and a fantastic piece of kit.

Durable
Good quality. Has never had issues. 4 stars only due to overheating with use on FT8. Used with efhw.

I ordered and recieved a 1:1 dipole balun that seems to work very well.
When I read the reviews and considered this purchase, it seemed there was some confusion over what people were actually ordering. I ordered and received a 1:1 balun. I connected it up on Christmas day, and it tuned right up. I've not managed any contacts with it yet, but I can currently only operate on 10 meters with my current license. That said, I was able to listen across the entire HF band, from 160 meters down to 10 meters. It seems to be well built.

Very well built
Well built with heavy construction modulus. Easy to connect and with specs included. Reception is overall good without a radial. I added a counter poise with an alligator clip to the shield side and it picked up a bit. Would be nice to have counterpoise screw terminal, Great value for the money.

Great for the POTA operator.
No serious complaints with this unit. I abuse it regularly with 100w @ 50% duty cycle digital modes in direct sun and it just keeps on keeping on. My only "what?!" was a lack of a thoughtful way to connect the required counterpoise because an EFHW without a counterpoise is only half of an antenna. Only 0.05 wavelength of your lowest used band is required, but it makes a huge difference. I was able to take a hacksaw blade to the "cup" surrounding the SO239 connector and slice it in one corner against the main body to allow a flat ring terminal to slide in to one of the grounding screws on the SO239. Yes, the cap is TDK.

This is a voltage Balun not a current Balun
The company and the Balun are both very very good. The reason I only gave three stars is because I needed a current Balun rather than the voltage Balun that I received. I went back and looked at the Amazon web site and it doesn't say current or voltage so the mistake was on my part for not researching it myself
