Great Guide to Learn Japanese
I have always wanted to learn Japanese, but felt lost every time I tried. This book finally gave me a way to make real progress. I liked that it started with the basics, like the characters, and gave me room to practice writing them. What really helped was how it broke everything into small steps. I did not feel overwhelmed. I especially appreciated the everyday vocabulary and clear grammar explanations. The practice exercises made the lessons sink in, and I found the answer key helpful. I also downloaded the audio so I could listen while walking. This has been the easiest and most complete Japanese resource I have used. I finally feel like I am getting somewhere.

Good
Some people would probably call me crazy, but before my month-long trip to Japan, I decided to learn the basics of Japanese. It wasn’t until I actually bought the textbook that I realized I might’ve bitten off more than I could chew... At first, I was totally overwhelmed... it’s a brick. Luckily, the book is super beginner-friendly, and now I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Right now, I’m practicing writing simple words and getting the hang of the pronunciation (the textbook covers all that stuff). :)

A great introduction to Japanese language and culture
I am about to take a job in Japan and wanted to learn the characters and some vocabulary basics before I get there. This book has me covered. It goes over the Hiragana and Katakana, writing styles in-depth and covers some Kanji too. It also has a good amount of basic vocabulary for everyday life. The book has phonetically spells out the vocabulary in Romaji (Roman/Latin alphabet), which is very helpful for me since learning all the characters is one of the difficult aspects of learning Japanese for me. There is also downloadable audio files, which are a great healp to hear what it sounds like. Another helpful aspect is the explanation of polite cultural traditions and manners like bowing and eating, money and more . So far, it has been very helpful as I begin my journey into learning this new language.

A fantastic workbook!
Every once in a while I get the idea of learning a new language and I've been curious about Japanese for a long time. I've bought and read plenty of other books about other languages before, most of which have been rather uninteresting and tedious after a while. But not this one. The author has clearly spent a lot of time on this and explains clearly how to get the most use out of the book, lays out the writing system, characters, pronounciation etc. The workbook-section is extensive and very well laid out. This one will keep me busy for a long time!

Multiple resources in one place
I really like the structure of this book, by combining textbook and workbook you really do get the most out of it. It's beginner friendly, well organized and covers all of the more important information. If you want to learn how to use Japanese in real life you will find this book to be of great help, because it explains grammar, vocabulary, structuring sentences, and everyday expressions for practical conversations.

Learning step by step
I got this to go along with my learn Japanese textbook, it's very helpful for extra practice especially with the calligraphy. The writing practice for hiragana is really clear and I love how it includes everyday stuff like how to order food and ask for directions or identify body parts. Having the audio recordings of native speakers also could be a useful tool that I'm sure everything was saying right as I study on my own.

Excellent Learning aid...
I am really into languages and recently I decided to tackle Japanese. I dabbled a bit with it in the past but now I am "serious", hahaha. I found this book while looking through the long list of available kindle versions of Japanese study aids and it looked like a good place to start. I like that it talks about Japan (country), talks about the Japanese Language proficiency test (JLPT), makes suggestions on studying, and gives detailed info about the language with and the different forms--- Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji---before actually getting into the meat (grammar and vocabulary) of the language. It provides lots of writing practice (although I can't write in the book since I bought it for the Kindle) and gives you a weblink to download audio files.I have just started with the book (about 4 or 5 days now) , but I am really enjoying the layout and approach to learning. I know everyone learns differently and this book may not be a perfect match for all, but for me it CLICKED. If you are interested in learning Japanese, I highly recommend you pick this book up...
