Hands down Carl Sagan is my favorite science author. He had a gift to explain extraordinary scientific facts to the common man. Everytime I read one of his books, I learn something which changes my view of life and the world as a whole forever. Its an absolute pleasure to take one of his books to a cosy corner with a cup of tea and just get lost into his beautifully written words which comes across to you from years past vis Sagans voice of reason.In Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors Carl Sagan gives a summary account of the evolutionary history of life on Earth, with special focus upon certain traits central to human nature which are rooted in the deep past, and derived from our remote ancestors who belonged to different species altogether.

Can we really know ourselves? – This work of Carl Sagan & Ann Druyan is a genuine attempt to know “Who or what we humans as a species are?” with Science; rather than superstition, as the tool for investigation.Who we are and why we are here? - This question has troubled the mankind since ages. With no outright and obvious answers for too long in the history of human existence, coupled with human frailty to deal with what is unknown we humans took solace in the superstition that – “every living and non-living thing around Us (we humans) was created for Us by a benevolent entity. ” In fact, we humans convinced ourselves that the entire universe revolves around Earth the spot in the universe where humans live. This book provides answers from an entirely different perspective. The universe may be indifferent not just to the existence of humans, but it could be indifferent to the existence of life itself either on earth or anywhere else.It takes courage to look into the truth of “Who we are and why we are here” – because you might not like what you see.

For a layman like me. This book started it all in my wanting to know things.personally this book has influenced me the most . Please read it.

What can I say about it's absolutely fantastic ...you should definitely go for it one of the best works of Carl Sagan .... The condition of the book is also excellent...and print is very decent too

You don't review carl Sagan and Ann druyan. Feel happy that you are getting a chance to read their work.The book is excellent to understand the behavior of apes and our connection with them, albeit some content could be disturbing for younger people.

Published in 1992 and since then the rise of kleptomaniacal, murderous world leaders, tyrannical states, dictators, terrorism, ethnic, racial and cultural intolerance and the current pandemic seems we are not willing to recognise that we hold 99.9% of our DNA in common and related to one another....perhaps that is the problem........we do not like our relatives....if this is true then the information in this book will not be acted upon to build a more worthwhile and valued global civilisation than the one that currently exists......that is really tragic ...
