WOW what a DEAL for the money ...lightweight and powerful !
I have gone thru several pumps over the years both 2 wire and 3 wire and this one beats them all!. First of all my order arrived in just 2 days ..amazing This pump is lighter weight/shorter uses less amperage and has more output than any I have used at 3 times the cost. Mine did not come with a heat shrink/connector kit for the wiring connections as some sellers of other pumps do include this kit. Using the optional supplied riser will require a 5 inch tube clearance verses a 4inch for just the pump. The power wires for this pump are smaller gauge than any I have seen/used but are rated to adequately carry the 5.1 amperage rating of this pump. I have had 1HP pumps that use almost 10 amps so the larger diameter power wires are required/needed in that case. The pump intake screen has smaller diameter holes than any I have used/seen so should allow less debris to be pulled through intake. The 14 foot long power cable is adequate and color coding is standard. ground lead is marked/identified with a metal tab labeled "GROUND" so that their can be no confusion. Noticed that the plastic bag containing the pump had a lot of condensation moisture in/on it but I assume this is the water from quality control testing. I like that the output port of the pump has carbon threads which reduce corrosive welding and deterioration of connective fittings. I was attracted by the *Industrial grade heavy duty, also good for home usage* statement as this appears to speak of a high standard to work performance. Wish this pump had a 3 year warranty verses a one year but at this price what can I say. I like that the company is located in the USA for warranty returns as warranties from other companies require that you pay shipping to Canada and other areas outside the USA This also concerned me when it comes to warranties on other brands. I found these and other such reviews on other brands sold on amazon.. and noticed the companies mentioned in the 2 reviews never responded. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Most Helpful Customer Reviews 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful Why I did NOT buy this pump. By Alexander Orenstern on October 29, 2012 I was about to order this pump from Amazon when I had a technical question and I called Flotec. Flotec told me that they would not honor any warranty on the pump if I bought it from Amazon. I checked with Amazon and they confirmed, no warranty of any kind. So I went with Red Lion. The parent company of Red Lion (Franklin Electric) told me that they do honor warranties on Red Lion EVEN IF I bought a pump from Amazon. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful well pump By Rae on September 12, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase First one didn't work so Amazon replaced it, second one quit after two and a half months which is beyond Amazons 30 days so called Flotec who said that since I bought it through Amazon they weren't required to and wouldn't honor their warrenty. Amazon refunded me 80% of the purchase price. Go Amazon, I bought a new pump a home supply store, but not a Flotec, I'm not overly fond of them at this point. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Now only time will tell how well it lasts to heavy everyday demand. will provide periodic updates. Bottom line.....WHAT A DEAL! addition info The capacity of the pump is determined by the width of the impeller vanes and its pressure by the number of impellers. As an example, a ½ horsepower 7-stage pump may deliver a high volume of water at a low pressure while a ½ horsepower 14-stage pump will deliver a lower volume but at a greater pressure. Like all other centrifugal pumps, an increase in well depth or discharge pressure will reduce the capacity.

Excellent for price.
I'm on my second one in 3 years. I have very hard water (850 ppm water hardness). And it feeds 4 1/2 baths, 2 kitchens, 2 laundry rooms, and several hose bibbs and water troughs just fine. But for the price, not very much can beat it.

Warning on purchase: worked great at first (Update 5 months later), weeks later update
I suspended the pump inside a 6" well casing that I placed in a 50 gallon trash can that holds 240 pounds of cement. I sunk it 15' into a lake and pump the water out of the lake up 29' to a pond that is the start of my waterfall/stream. Pump is quiet and working great so far. (Pump worked great for 5 months then died, now I have to wait until spring to dive down in the lake and replace pump, I was hoping for at least a few years of operation, not 5 months.) UPDATE: Foolishly I purchased the same pump again, but upgraded the ground wire to 12ga as suggested by other users. Let's hope this does the trick this time. When it works it works fine, just doesn't work long enough. Will update as the months go by... UPDATE: Didn't need to wait months for review, it crapped out within a week. Left in water for a few days to test my electrical connection and when pulled it out it had already started to rust. (see photo)This product should be banned from sale, it only works for a short while then fails. I WILL NOT be buying a third one, returning this one. Save your money and purchase elsewhere. One star is to high a rating....!

REPLACE GROUND WIRE ASAP. HOW IS THIS ALLOWED WITH 12 GAUGE WIRE?
This pump came very well packaged. Styrofoam surround and double heavy duty cardboard box. Also came with a roll of waterproof tape and a roll of teflon tape,.and 3 marine grade butt splices(these were useless and terrible quality) but they were free. Buy your own 3m splices. Install was pretty straightforward. I had to disconnect the motor from pump to change out the pitiful ground wire. This should be done first. I have never seen a company use such a tiny ass ground wire like this. That will cause this pump to burn up within a week. This process is simple. Undo the wire holder on the side with the two little bars(2 screws) remove that wire bar and the screen that surrounds the pump intake. You will see two screws holding the waterproof wire topper down. Unscrew the 4 bolts that hold the motor and pump together. You will need a 13mm wrench. Carefully separate the two parts and set the other piece aside. Now Unscrew the wire holder that is holding that laughable ground wire. Put yourself at least a 14 gauge wire(preferable green), in a ring terminal and crimp it down. I also used a tiny bit of shrink wrap over that. Reassemble the pump to the motor with the 4 screws and tighten them down. Now carefully put the wire intake screen back on making sure not to pinch any of the wires. Then put the wire holder back on with the two clips. Next it's time for testing, because who wants to do all that work to install a pump only to find out you got a dud? The simplest way I did it was to put it in a 5 gallon bucket and temporarily wire nut the wires and flip the breaker on to see if it turned on. Mine automatically self primed itself and water started spraying out. Perfect. I turned off the power, unscrewed the wire nuts, and threw this bad boy in my aerator tank to replace a 1HP Goulds pump that was 8 years old and had died. Now it was just a matter of connecting the power wires and the plumbing. This was accomplished with ease. The top of the pump output has a dry plastic cap to keep the testing water inside during shipping, remove this. Then you will want to purchase a PVC 1 1/4 male screw to female slip adapter. Make sure to use plenty of teflon tape on the threads the first time, because there isn't any going back to add more teflon after you glue this up, without cutting this entire thing and starting all over again. Next dryfit your plumbing pipes, elbows, couplers etc. Once you have it how you like it, draw alignment marks on the piping so it's easier when you're in a hurry to reassemble it after you glue it. It's a piece of cake to line up the marks and you're done. Let the glue dry for a couple hours before pressure testing the system too. For the power to this pump I had the 3 wire pump(2 hots and a ground). My last pump was the same way so it was just a matter of matching up hot to hot and ground to ground. I wire nutted the wires together wrapped them in electrical tape and filled up the other side of the wrapped wires with silicone to keep out the water. Hope these directions make it easier to install for people that have no mechanical know how. I will update if anything happens or the pump dies. Also be sure to keep that sticker with your serial number on it. No sticker, no serial number, no fixy from the factory.

Pump appeared to be good quality and even came with the electrical tape and teflon tape. Insatallws easily and works well. At 100ft down it is not 33 gal per min but I am very happy with the pump.

This pump seems to work good, good pressure from our well, timely delivery and arrived undamaged. Good instructions for installation. Can not recall if it is csa approved or not but it didn’t really matter because I installed it myself. Would make a difference if getting a plumber to install.
