What was wrong with the hero 4's simple, easy and smaller connector? is gopro trying to upset its users?

I don't represent GoPro by any means but my guess would be due to the amount of technology in the hero 5 in order to save space inside the camera they may have left out the hardware to record with an external microphone. As much as people complain, I have one of these and it isn't that big. You can also get a USB-C male to USB-C female extension cable and keep the adaptor away from the camera. For me the ability to charge while using an external MIC is better than having a small adaptor...

This is a $50 part. Why the 400% markup? Holy price gouging!!
