THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN is a wonderfully moving fable that addresses the meaning of life, and life after death, in the poignant way that made TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE such an astonishing book. The novel's protagonist is an elderly amusement park maintenance worker named Eddie who, while operating a ride called the 'Free Fall', dies while trying to save a young girl who gets in the way of a falling cart that hurtles to earth. Eddie goes to heaven, where he meets five people who were unexpectedly instrumental in some way in his life. While each guide takes him through heaven, Eddie learns a little bit more about what his time on earth meant, what he was supposed to have learned, and what his true purpose on earth was. Throughout there are dramatic flashbacks where we see scenes from his troubled childhood, his years in the army in the Philippines jungle, and with his first and only love, his wife Marguerite. THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN is the perfect book to follow TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE. Its compellingly affecting themes and lyrical writing will fascinate Mitch Albom's huge readership. Review: A Rollercoaster of Emotions I Never Saw Coming - I've never written a book review before, but this one kept me utterly hooked until the very last page. One moment I was sobbing uncontrollably, the next smiling through tears, then shocked into silence sometimes all at once. I never imagined a single book could unleash such a whirlwind of emotions, but this masterpiece did just that. What a ride I absolutely loved it! If you're craving a story that grips your heart and refuses to let go, pick this up now. 5/5 stars. Review: Good book - Good book

a beautiful book, must read !!!
The Five People You Meet in Heaven Fairness doesn't govern life and death, if it did, no good person would have died young. For every individual who thinks of him as waste, lonely and insignificant should read this book. There is no life insignificant, not even the miniscule of the species. All life intersects and leaves an impact on others. Death doesn’t just take someone it misses someone else and in the small distance between being taken and being missed lives are changed. Threw out life, have there been any situation where you have no idea why a certain result occurred? Do you think there are any events from your past that didn’t have a big impact on your life, that potentially had a big impact on other person’s life? We normally tend to see and live life in our own perspective yet our decision directly or indirectly shapes the future of a few individuals. This book has the crux of life and teaches the idea of death, life and life’s unanswered questions. Mitch Albom writes a fantastic story that will change everything you have ever thought about life, death and the meaning of life when we were alive. Plot: Eddie is a wounded war veteran, an old man who lives an average life in solitude. His job is fixing rides in an amusement park. On his 83rd birthday a tragic incident takes place when he is killed trying to save a little girl from a falling cart. He awakes in the afterlife and has to meet five different people explaining his life. With these five different people we dig deep into Eddie’s life from childhood to his end and learn the significance of each person and their impact on his life. These vivid individuals teach Eddie 5 important life lessons and how it shaped Eddie’s life. This is a classic Mitch Albom story, when Important life lessons are taught in an unconventional yet entertaining manner. The Five People You Meet in Heaven is a beautiful story and its effect on me is heartbreaking and heartwarming in equal measures.

Must Read!!
Overall, I found "The Five People You Meet in Heaven" to be a moving and thought-provoking novel that explores some of life's deepest questions. Albom's exploration of interconnectedness, forgiveness, and the afterlife is both profound and beautifully written, and his characters are complex and deeply human. This is a book that I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a powerful and uplifting read that will stay with them long after they have turned the final page.

Moving and thought-provoking
A book that captured my attention from the first words of the first chapter, then it was by reading on that I truly became entranced. This is a story that really made me rethink my own life and my own importance in this world. I really wonder who my five people will be…

For the bitter and the sweet
This is a sweet, simple read in terms of vocab and structure. In terms of how it will make you feel, it is very far from simple. We meet Eddie on his eighty-third birthday, which is incidentally the last day of his earthly life. In an act of incredible, selfless bravery, Eddie loses his life and is pulled to heaven to meet five people whose lives have intersected with his and been irrevocably changed as a result. To outline those people here would do the book (and you, the potential reader) a disservice. I will say that some of the five in question are very far from ones you'd expect or sometimes hope for. So begins a journey, in a heaven like no other, to understand the meaning of Eddies life and his purpose, his celestial raison d'etre. From landscapes incorporating the harsh, war-time Philippines to parochial Italy and the seaside pier of his youth and final days, we see what Eddie has failed to understand and the futility of regret and words left unspoken. Although a short and easy read (I finished in a day), this book, if read in the right circumstances, is redemptive and like heavenly balm for the soul. It is an antidote for that most destructive of human conditions - regret. It is bitter-sweet, well observed, unapologetically intimate and compassionate and includes the reader like an invisible third party. The reader follows like a spectre throughout these most raw and private of moments and is ultimately humbled and awakened by the experience. Although not recommended for the very cynical, this is a book which may help with decisions when you are at an impasse and its sweet, hopeful themes of forgiveness and seeing the bigger picture may assist you in making positive, affirming choices and leaving bitterness and regret behind you.
