The Right Tool For The Job.
It's SO nice when this kind of thing works out, and this did EXACTLY what it was supposed to. Pull the lever back, fill the scoop, scrape away the excess, pop it into the pan, and viola-- a pan full of perfect little falafel patties in less time than it took to write this. A quick rinse under cold water to keep the falafel from drying on it during use and a quick hand wash in soapy water when you're done are all that's needed to keep this thing clean and ready to go.Now bear in mind that I was using plain falafel in this; ground garbanzo and seasonings only. If you start feeling creative and go adding flour or eggs or other sticky, oily, or gooey ingredients, don't be surprised if you gum the whole works up. But just ground up garbanzo beans and some herbs and spices are not going to stick. For the most part I hate one-task kitchen doohickeys cluttering up my drawers, but I'll make room for this one-- and probably make falafels a lot more often as a result.

Poorly made.
I had to return it. Very poorly made. I ordered another that was beautifully made. You get what you pay for.

A great tool that makes falafels fast and easy!
Pro Falafel Ball Making Scoop ToolThis is an excellent tool for making many falafel pucks quickly and easily. The tool is fashioned from aluminum. It would be nice to have a scoop that was better made, and with higher quality materials, something that would compliment the other quality cookware that I have around. This falafel scoop is made with a long handle, a cup for scooping up the falafel mix, and a spring release that pushed the falafel puck into your oil. Aesthetics aside, it does a great job.The tool size that I bought a size 'small'. Which I considered for a while before purchasing, and I'm really happy with the size. The tool makes the painstaking process of rolling little messy balls into a quick affair. Just depress the little spring with the lever, scoop up some falafel mix, shape up the falafel with a few quick swipes of a spoon, and release the falafel puck into your hot oil. I will do six quick pucks into my little pot at a time. This has made a huge difference in preparing falafel!Four out of five stars: It does the job very well, but rudimentary in appearance.

Oxidative material
After washed it in dishwasher the body of the tool became oxidized. A this layer of dark grey dust covered it all over. I will not use it as I do not want to intake this metal 'dust'....I will go for a stainless steel version.Be aware of this before you hit the checkout button.

Great value for the money - easy to use, easy to clean
If you read some of the 1-star reviews you may believe that this falafel scoop oxidizes and will leave residue on your hands (and in the falafel mix). Does the metal oxidize? Yes, the first time I washed it it left black marks on my hand and I started a return. But I used it again the next day without any issues and decided to definitely keep it. I highly recommend it.

OK for its intended purpose
It works, but is a bit smaller than expected (I bought the small). Made in Israel. It is made of rather poor quality pot metal. The casting looks like it has been used since Israeli independence, kind of the stuff produced in a poor country with little money, or technical and engineering skills. On the plus side, it wasn't expensive. Would be happy to pay a few dollars more for something made to higher standards. We will see how it lasts

Who would have thought?
Love this. My adult daughter and I watch Bobby Flay Throw downs when she came home for a visit this summer, she an saw this used. My daughter said it would be great to have this scoop tool as she likes falafel but must travel 30 miles to get some. She loves it, uses it two -three times a month now. Now she invites me over to have theme meals. Now we get together and make homemade pocket bread and falafel balls. Makes us happy to share time together.
