It's a great product. I am using it with Melodics app to learn finger drumming. Works like a charm and I am enjoying it. The keypads are soft and sensitive, making them fun to play with.

Pro- *Coming from Akai so obviously good drum pad but do not expect it to give results like MPCs Cons- *Ghost notes are very annoying & affects the creative flow Final Verdict- Bit expensive but perfect gear for starting out.

Seriously, Very strong design. Provides pretty long list of presets for different DAWs (virtually all major DAWs). Four virtual USB ports work in parallel with MIDI ports. (I have integrated it into environment of Windows PC with several DAWs, Roland FA08 and Casio PX360 ) Supports specs for different types of communication with external hardware. It comes with updated to 1.01 version of firmware(no need to update the firmware). If you get this controller then assume that you are the professional(or at least ready to learn) and ready to configure it as you needed.(it is actually a fun thing to do) I am satisfied with the quality. It would be helpful to have LEDs for 360 knobs. That is the reason I give it only five stars :) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Addition comments from August 22, 2017 A few words about most common complains which relate to the Record button. The record button works fine. I have Ableton with three devices used simultaneously with it. Two devices have DAW controller functionality embedded (Roland FA 08 and Akai MPD 232). From both devices I can start recording in Ableton. Stop button work as stop and as reset of player to zero position on the second click. Play button works fine as well. No problem problem with transport functionality. Customer support: It is responsive in regular maner. I get responces within a day . MPC essentials: The package provided on the Akaipro website has incorrect name(Update). However this is the whole installation package. There is no problem with MPC essentials software. I have downloaded , installed and activated it successfully. If there is a problem with anything send your question to the customer support and follow provided instructions. I have a feeling the this product(MPD232) is underestimated. This is the great product with ridiculously low price.

Le gros kiffe , je fait du djembé avec , ça parait fou mais avec les bons logiciels , c'est plus que faisable et hyper réaliste . Sinon , ce controleur laisse une impression de robustesse , ce qui est rassurant puisque l'on va tapoter dessus . Les pads sont biens sensibles et réactifs , j'ai eté vraiment étonné de leur jouabilité compte tenu du prix raisonnable . Ils sont bien gros et c'est vraiment appréciable lorsque l'on a des gros doigts comme moi . Les potars sont fermes , ils tournent a l infini , ça on aime ou on aime pas , perso ça ne me derange pas . Un bundle complet de logiciels est fourni ( ableton version lite, MPC essentials et 2 versions de big band drum , il y a de quoi faire ) et l'editeur de banques des commandes du controleur qui est très bien fait et simple à utiliser. Le cable USB est fourni , merci , ce n'est pas toujours le cas . Pour ce qui est du "problème" de doublage des frappes lorsque l'on appuie une fois sur un pad mais que deux frappes sont induites (c'est un petit problème récurrent sur les drums pads), il s'observe en fait lorsque l'on veut réaliser des touchers à très très faible vélocité. En effet , dans ce cas, les frappes sont souvent doublées mais ce n'est pas un problème je pense dans la mesure où ces frappes produisent tellement peu de son qu'on ne les utilise pas et on frappera toujours à une vélocité supérieure. Pour être plus claire, on frappera toujours machinalement plus fort sur les pads et avec une vélocité telle qu'on ne gênérera jamais de doubles frappes. C'est ce que j'ai pu observer pour ma part . Le seul reproche que je lui ferai c'est sur le système de gestion des banques avec un seul bouton pour passer d'une banque a l'autre , pas très pratique et surtout pas assez rapide lorsque l'on veut changer de banque en jeux live . Un potar aurait reglé le problème et n'aurait , je pense , pas couté plus cher ; c 'est un peu dommage . Aussi , des sorties MIDI auraient été les bienvenues mais bon , on se doute bien qu'à ce prix , des choix ont dus être faits pour tenir le budget ; et il faut bien reconnaître que privilégier la fiabilité des pads et leur jouabilité était le bon choix . Bref , j'adore cet "instrument"!

Este controlador tiene muchas virtudes y todas ellas con la calidad de AKAI. Los pads tienen una muy buena sensibilidad y la personalización de colores es muy cómoda para grabar con drumkits o samplers. Totalmente compatible con Ableton.

初めてのDTM＆ビートメイクのために購入して使い続けて一年ぐらい経ちますが、正直買ったのを後悔してます。 パッドが悪い意味で敏感で、一回叩いたつもりが意図せず連続して二回鳴るなどのチャタリングを度々起こすという致命的な欠陥があるのがその理由です。一年ぐらい使い続ければエイジングが進んだり扱いに慣れてマシになるかなと思ってレビューは控えてましたが、治る見込みが無さそうなのでレビューすることにしました。 パッドをかなり気をつけて叩いたり、後から余分なmidiノートを削除すればなんとかなるっちゃなるのですが、パッドを叩く際に相当神経を使うのと、作曲を便利にするための機器のはずなのにむしろ余計な手間が増えるのが非常にストレス。感覚に身を任せてパッドを叩きビートを作るというのがやりたくて購入したのにそれが全くできなくて、ガッカリ感が半端ないです。初めてのmidiコンでそこそこの金出してこんなゴミ掴んだ自分の運の悪さを呪う・・・。 自分はパッドを楽器に見立てて演奏するという指ドラム的な事はしないのですが、この製品でそのような芸当を実現するのは不可能だと思われます。必ずどこかのタイミングで何度もダブルトリガーが起こるのでリアルタイム演奏はまず無理です。 GLOBALモードのスレッショルドの調整で気休め程度にマシにはなるものの本質的には変わらないです。 正直キャンペーンのおまけで付いてきたLPK25という安物のmidi鍵盤の方が、自分の思ったタイミングで音を鳴らす事ができるし、ダブルトリガーも起こらないのでビート作るの楽です。勿体ないのでmpd232を使っていますが。（もしかしてMPD買えばLPKがおまけでついてくるキャンペーンってMPDという不良品の在庫を捌くため？） 上に書き連ねた症状は、私の指ドラムの技術が未熟だったり、私の買った物だけが初期不良などでそうなっているというわけではなく、英語圏の掲示板の書き込みやamazon.comのレビューを読んでいても同じ症状を訴えている人が多いので、この製品が元から持っている構造的な問題であると思われます。ちなみにその方々が言うにはakaiがこの件に対応する気は全く無く問題を完全に放置しているそうです。 ちなみに自分も買ってすぐこの件をサポートに進言しましたが、DAWの設定などのせいではないかとはぐらかされました。自分はこの製品を買って完全な初心者から始めたので、他のサンプラーやパッド型Midiコンなどを使った経験が無く、つまり比較対象が無かったのでおかしいとは感じつつも有効な反論ができず泣き寝入りしました。知識があれば返品とかできたんですが、まあ高い勉強代ですね。 他にも単に商品の使い方の質問がしたくてサポートを何度か利用しましたが、そもそも日本のサポート(inMusic Japan)の担当の方は、自社製品への知識をほとんど持っていないので全く役に立ちません。電話で細かい使い方を質問すると、その場で説明書を開いて調べ始める始末。当然めちゃめちゃ待たされるし、ペラッペラの説明書をその場で紐解かれても問題は解決しません。それどころかとあるきっかけがあって分かったのですが、テスト用の実機すら会社に置いてないらしいので、「こういう問題が起きているのですがそちらで確かめてもらえませんか？」というのが通用せず、常に歯切れが悪い感じではぐらかされます。サポートとは名ばかりで単なる宣伝販売流通の機能しか持っていないものと思われます。DTMは言うてもまだまだニッチな分野ですしその中でもmpdとか買う人はあまりいないっぽいので問題が表面化してませんが、これがもっとメジャーな分野だったらあまりの酷さに炎上してるレベルです。 MPD2シリーズ発売の二年後に出たMPCLiveやMPCXもMPDと同じパッドを使っているようですが、色々調べてみたらそちらでは全く問題は出ていないようです。苦情の多かったMPDの問題は完全スルーを決め込んで、しれーっと改善したのでしょう。まあそりゃ問題のあるMPDシリーズを全部回収したり修理する体力がこの企業にあるとは思えませんので、そういう不誠実な対応をするのも仕方ないかもしれませんが、inMusicはまじで信用できない企業だなと思いました。akaiブランドに騙された感じですね。製品自体も写真や動画で見ればデザインが良く購買意欲をそそられるんですが、実際手にとってみると遙かにチープです。 あともう1つ、ステップシーケンサーのベロシティのデフォルトが63固定なのがとても不便。MPDのSeqEditで後からちまちま編集できるけどさすがに手間がかかりすぎるので基本はDAWで一括で編集しなおすことになるのだが、それが非常に無駄な一手間。デフォルト値を変更できないならできないで最初から100以上とかにしといてくれればいいのにデフォで63ってのはちょっと意味が分からない。アホなのかな？リアルタイムでパッドを叩いて打ち込むSeqRecというモードもあり、そちらの場合はちゃんとベロシティが反映されるのだが、一旦そのモードでシーケンスを組んでしまうと、その時に反映されたベロシティの値がシーケンスを消去した後も電源をオフるまで残ってしまうというバグがある。つまりボタンぽちぽちでシーケンス組む手法だと63固定、リアルタイムで叩いて組む手法だと基本127とかになり音量に差がありすぎるので、この2つの手法を組み合わせて音楽を作ることができない。あほらしい。このベロシティ63問題も海外のakaiフォーラムで度々指摘されていたが、結局改善のためのファームウェアアップデートなどは何もなく、MPD232はひっそりと販売中止になったようですｗ inMusicは完全に消費者を舐めてますｗ
