Great budget bed (if a bit firm)
Overall, I am very pleased with this bed and I have given it 5 out of 5 stars as it only has some minor flaws and if you don’t mind a firm bed then it is a bargain at the price (£140 at time of writing). For the most part this bed is much better than I had expected, it looks smart and generally it is strong and well made; some parts fit together to ensure that load bearing parts are extra strong. The bed is self-assembly but I found it very easy to assemble with well labelled parts, easy-to-follow instructions with tools and spares included. The headboard shelf with a double plug-socket and two USB ports is a nice feature, especially if you have a bed that covers a plug socket but, due to the shape, it does mean that you lose 15cm of space in the room and there is not an option of assembling the bed without the shelf. One of the main negatives of this bed is that the slats are stiff, although they do have rubber ends, which gives a bit of bounce, they do not flex like regular slats. The other thing to consider is that the mattress sits on the bed, with clips around the sides, rather than being recessed into the which means that whole height of the bed, plus the mattress is the height from the floor, which can be good or bad depending on your height but personally I like mine to be recessed so that the mattress cannot move off the bed.Pros:- Cheap.- Strong.- Looks smart.- headboard includes shelf and a plug socket.Cons:- Slats are very firm.- Mattress is not recessed into the bed.- Sockets do not have a switch.

Parts missing
The product its self is good but it came with 20 pieces missing. The piece “p” (pictured) were all missing with an abundance of piece “r”. The parts that are missing are used to hold the metal slats in place and therefore makes the bed very noisy and the metal slats fall out.Disappointing.

Excellent bed and good value too
This is an excellent quality bed at a budget price. I have one or two quibbles about the design, however none at all about the quality or the sturdiness.I prefer metal framed beds overall as they’re much stronger than wood and tend to last longer. The main issues tend to be fixable, and usually entail re-tightening joints and fastenings. This one is no exception: you get a flat packed powder coated steel frame that you have to assemble. It’s not difficult and you get the correct tool for the job as well as the various fastenings. In fact I ended up with spares, and I have double checked that I didn’t miss a screw or nut, so they’re definitely extras. We’ll see in the coming weeks if I’m wrong and the thing collapses under me.The steel is of a very good gauge and the powder coating seems to be thick enough to avoid scratches, at least in the short term. The main threat to the frame, other than the weight on it, is likely to be the legs being knocked by the vacuum cleaner. Unless you’re a particularly aggressive vacuuming type however, I doubt you’ll be doing any damage.I mentioned the weight bearing capacity just now, and that’s obviously going to be a major factor in the longevity of the bed. To help with this the designers have effectively made it a nine-legged frame rather than the usual four. You get legs in between the four main ones on all four sides, as well as one right in the middle as well. That means that the weight is much more evenly distributed across the frame. If you imagine how you actually sit on a bed, you rarely sit right on the corner: you sit at the side and then lift your legs up or roll into a prone position. That means that the main force of your weight is being carried by the middle of the spar that forms the side of the frame. With this bed you get a third leg right in the middle to distribute that force out to the rest of the frame. This also reduces the general movement of the frame and hence the chance of creaks and squeaks. The manufacturer claims a maximum capacity of 800lbs/363kgs: even when you include the weight of the mattress that means it’s a sturdy piece of equipment.Overall it looks stylish and modern in a minimalist fashion. It should fit into most modern design themes, although if your tastes are more traditional then you might want to look for something less angular and industrial. The USB attachments and headboard shelf are a good idea, especially if you have to cover up your nearest socket when placing the bed. They’re just powered slots without any switches so if you want to isolate the bed for any reason you’ll need to use the mains socket to do so.The only real negatives I can point to are certain design choices that I wouldn’t have picked had I been doing it. The headboard shelf is a great idea but it’s not an optional extra: it’s part of the frame whether you want it or not, and that means you have to factor it in when measuring up to find if you have enough space. It’s not a major flaw but it’s something to bear in mind if space is tight in your bedroom. The only other issue for me are the metal hooks that stick out from the frame to prevent the mattress from slipping. I think the have the potential to be a hazard that could be inconvenient if you rub your calves against them at any point. I get the idea, and it does work, but I have another steel frame bed and that uses a non-slip surface on the steel laths instead. I’ve had no problem with sliding mattresses with that one, so I’d prefer that to this option.Other than that I can’t fault it as a product. It’s well made and at the price it doesn’t break the bank. The USB addition is a useful feature rather than just a gimmick, and I suspect we’ll see more of them added to beds in future. It’s a five star item and I highly recommend it.
