Worked perfectly.
I stirred up my pudding, steamed it in this, and now it's resting in the refrigerator, wrapped in cheesecloth soaked in brandy. The mold worked perfectly, and the pudding slid right out (I had liberally greased and floured it before using). This is the first time I've made a steamed pudding this way, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The mold is thin and might dent easily, but that wasn't a problem for me. The tin that was submerged in the bubbling water discolored, but that hasn't hurt the tin that I can tell. I actually was able to lift the filled pudding mold out of the pot by the lid handle, but I did so very carefully, and I don't know if you'd be able to do it every time.Anyway, this mold performs exactly as it's meant to, and I look forward to making many more puddings in it. One note: despite the tags "baking mold" and "baking molds," you aren't meant to bake in this. The packaging specifically says not for use in the oven.

Perfect for puddings
I made a plum pudding in this mold this year, and was very happy with the results. Some others have mentioned that the lid is too loose to lift the pudding from the steamer by the handle on the lid. I did not find this to be a problem, as I used the traditional method (which I found online) of covering the top of the pudding batter with parchment paper and foil, before putting the lid on. The lid allows for extra room for these, and once the foil and paper are tied on, the lid fits snugly. The tin does discolor, but that's the nature of the metal, and is nothing to be concerned about. It is also not a traditional pudding bowl as used in England, but the non-traditional center post (which leaves a hole in the pudding) makes the pudding steam more quickly. The photos don't show the bottom of the mold, and it was a little more elaborate than I'd expected -it has narrower 'petals' than the 'ribs' on the sides, which are swirled a bit- but the pudding unmolded just fine and looked lovely. Put a sprig of holly in the hole (I wrapped the stems with foil just in case, as holly is toxic -- and be sure to remove the holly before flambeing the pudding!) and have a very merry Christmas Pudding.

a gift
This product was purchased for a gift so as far as how it will work that has yet to be determined. As for my opinion on it I would have liked a tighter seal with the lid.

Question for vendor
It does not appear that the product I ordered is the product I received. According to the Amazon website, it says it is made from carbon steel. However, it looks like it could be made from aluminum. Is it? I am looking for a healthy & safe alternative to aluminum bakeware. That's why I chose that particular item. I have been in touch with the manufacturer & although they produce both aluminum & carbon steel products, they have written to me that the product I ordered & received was aluminum. They just messaged me that they will contact the vendor & correct the vendor's info. I don't know if that means they will contact Amazon or Fox Run. I am going to research & see if I can find a carbon steel version.

is good looking and works wonderfully
after reading the reviews I ordered. it arrived as promised, is good looking and works wonderfully. the lid was not an issues as others had commented. the discoloration is of no concern and does not effect the mold. if a steamed pudding mold is needed in your kitchen, this is a must have. cannot say enough about how good this product is. and the persimmon pudding turned out perfectly.

It works for me!
After reading mixed reviews I decided to order the Fox Run Steamed Pudding Mold and I am very happy with my choice. It arrived a day to two after I placed my order; it was packed well and arrived without any dents in lid or body of mold. I have wanted a steamed pudding mold for a long time and so glad I finally have one that I made a steamed pudding the same day I received the mold. All went well and the pudding was excellent! The only reason I am giving a 4-star rating is because of the lid not having a lock feature that would make it possible to lift from the lid. Otherwise, you have to use a pan large enough to accommodate lifting the mold out from it's sides which could be tricky and present a safety issue. Some reviewers complained about it being thin tin. If this were a heavy-duty mold, it would make it more difficult to retrieve from the hot water in steaming pan. I would purchase this item again and I would highly recommend it to friends and family.

Fox Run 2 Quart Steamed Pudding Mold and Lid
Just bought this steamed pudding mold and it works just fine. Was a bit leery of the lid after reading a couple of reviews...made sure the lid snapped over the three little knobs on the mold lip and was able to pull the pudding out of the pot (slowly)without a hitch. I didn't have any problem with rust as I washed the lid by hand and dried it straight away. As stated the mold turned a dark grey on the outside from being in the water but this is no detriment to it's performance. I am happy with it and plan to use it many more times.

It's a bad product
The pan was efficiently delivered; the problem is with the merchandise. We steamed a Boston brown bread in it, and when it was done, we could not get the lid off. It was absolutely stuck. We had to rip it off with a pliers, tearing it nearly in half. The pot itself seems to be made of decent stuff but the lid was very frail. (The bread was beautiful, though.) The next time we use the pot, we will cover it with foil and set a heavy lid on it. If that doesn't work we will haul it to the dump along with a load of other trash.

Mold Pan is Made of Aluminum
I received the mold pan in great timing.Unfortunately, The product is not what it stated.Long story short after contacting the companies...It is looks exactly what’s in the photo, but is made from another company .... Which made me question what the product was made of.Needless to say I was disappointed as I wasnt looking an Aluminum.I ended up keeping the mold as i cant be bothered to return. As well, this was my first and will be my last time purchasing from this company. So my final opinion is... Save your money, as this is NOT a light carbon steel product. And Aluminum is half the price of this.
