Great video/streaming tool and customer support
I got this document visualiser for recording art/craft projects. The image quality is good. The pack provides a link the website, where I expected to find a basic programme to run the camera, but there's actually an array of different pieces of software for a range of tasks. The primary programme, Okiocam Live, is for presentations. I couldn't get the pointer to work with the programme, followed instructions to download Windows Visual C++, but then got a message saying "Okiopoint only supports Okiolabs cameras", and the Okiopoint was disabled. I emailed Okiolabs Customer Support, who responded within a few hours, saying that the software hadn't yet been updated on the website, but I would be sent this via email, which followed just 2 minutes later. I can't fault their after-sales support, which to me is more important than whether a product functions perfectly out of the box!I probably won't use the Okiopoint much, as I feel it's a little unattractive for making videos, and I can always edit to change view or zoom in, but it will be useful for live presentations/streaming, which is its main purpose. In addition to the Okiocam Live, there's a range of other programmes - the ones that interest me most from the outset are the stop-motion and time-lapse. I haven't explored these fully yet, but I expect to get a lot of mileage from them. The cam and arm compacts down to a very small size, so it's really portable.I'm very happy with the camera and its potential in my video-making ventures.

Easy to operate
Item received in good condition in a smart looking branded box. What struck me as I first started playing with this and getting used to the features is the solid and decent build quality. It has a weighted base which keeps things stable and allows for the free movement and adjustment of the camera arm.Set up to transfer the images is quite straight forward and the instruction booklet is good and easy to follow. The images come through sharp and clear with a really good quality of resolution. I have noticed if it’s later in the day and darker this can slightly darken the image projected so something to be mindful of.The four button controls make this such an easy tool to use and play with.

powerful and versatile tool
Image QualityThe 8MP camera delivers ultra-clear 4K resolution, providing exceptional detail and clarity. Whether you're showcasing documents, 3D objects, or handwritten notes, the visual quality is outstanding. This high resolution is particularly beneficial for teaching, allowing students to see every detail clearly, even when zoomed in.Ease of UseThe OKIOCAM S2-4K is incredibly user-friendly. It works seamlessly with Chromebooks, Macs, Windows PCs, and even iPads, making it versatile for different setups. Setting it up is straightforward, and it requires minimal effort to start using right out of the box. The adjustable arm is flexible, allowing you to position the camera exactly where you need it, which is great for capturing various angles.OKIOPoint Smart Pointer and SoftwareThe inclusion of the OKIOPoint Smart Pointer is a nice touch. It adds an interactive element to presentations, making it easier to highlight specific areas on the screen. The software that comes with the visualizer is intuitive and offers several useful features, including image adjustment and recording capabilities. It’s particularly helpful for creating video tutorials or recording lessons.VersatilityThis visualiser is perfect for a range of applications. Whether you're a teacher conducting online classes, a professional needing to share detailed documents during a meeting, or a creative looking to display artwork, the OKIOCAM S2-4K handles it all with ease. The compact and lightweight design makes it easy to carry around, so it’s perfect for those who need a portable solution.

Compact Powerhouse for Presentations and Scanning
Perfect for Presentations:If you give talks or presentations—like me, with my painting demonstrations—this visualiser is a lifesaver. Imagine being able to zoom in on a specific area of a painting to highlight a technique or detail. With the OKIOPoint smart pointer, which is cleverly designed to look like a pencil, you can easily direct the camera to focus exactly where you want, adding a layer of precision to your presentations. It’s super handy because it packs flat and small, making it easy to carry around. Plus, the setup is a breeze—just scan the QR code, download the app, and you're good to go.Portability Without Compromise:One of the standout features of the S2-4K is its portability. It folds down to a compact size, taking up minimal space in your bag or on your desk. Despite its small size, the build quality is impressive. The sturdy metal base keeps it stable, and the flexible arm allows you to adjust the camera angle with ease. You don't lose any of the functionality you'd expect from a larger, bulkier device.Going Paperless Made Easy:For those of us trying to cut down on paper clutter, this visualiser offers an excellent alternative to traditional scanners. I’m in the process of retiring my large printer and moving to a more minimalist setup with a thermal printer, which doesn’t double as a scanner. The S2-4K fills that gap perfectly. It’s like having a portable scanner that doesn’t hog desk space. There’s a bit of a learning curve if you’re not super tech-savvy, but once you get the hang of it, it’s smooth sailing.Versatility in Use:Beyond scanning, this device shines in live applications. If you conduct training sessions or any kind of live demonstration, especially with a Zoom component, the ability to share real-time visuals is invaluable. The connectivity is reliable, and the streaming quality is solid, though there might be a slight lag at the highest resolution settings. The visualiser performs best in well-lit environments, which is something to keep in mind.Room for Improvement:While the image quality is generally good, it could struggle a bit in lower light conditions. The OKIOPoint smart pointer is a cool feature, but it’s not groundbreaking—more of a nice-to-have than a necessity. However, these are minor drawbacks compared to this visualiser's overall value and convenience.Final Verdict:The S2-4K Ultra HD Document Visualiser is a top-tier tool for anyone who needs to share or scan documents on the go. It’s compact, easy to use, and versatile enough to handle various tasks, from professional presentations to paperless scanning. Whether you’re trying to save space, reduce paper use, or just need a reliable visual aid, this device is worth considering.

OKIOCAM S2-4K: A Versatile Tool for Educators and Beyond
The OKIOCAM S2-4K is a fantastic document camera that offers exceptional value for its price. Its ability to capture high-quality images and video at resolutions up to 3264 x 2448p makes it ideal for a variety of applications, including teaching, distance learning, and design. Remember, you can do lower resolutions with no problems.Key Features and Benefits:High-Resolution Capture: The S2-4K delivers crisp, clear images and video, ensuring that every detail is captured accurately.Enhanced Low-Light Performance: Even in dimly lit environments, the camera produces vibrant colors and minimal noise.Easy-to-Use Controls: The four-button design makes it simple to adjust focus, exposure, zoom, and image orientation.Compact Design: The S2-4K's small footprint makes it easy to transport and store.Versatile Software: The accompanying teacher-specific app offers a range of features for online document sharing and live presentations. While the frame rate might not be ideal for fast-paced activities, it's more than sufficient for most educational and professional tasks. The ability to capture and share documents in real-time is a significant advantage, especially for distance learning. As an instructional designer it has allowed me to quickly scan documents in for sharing in my videos.A Game-Changer for Teachers:One of the most impressive features of the S2-4K is its ability to flip the image 180 degrees. This is a game-changer for teachers who often encounter documents that are oriented incorrectly. By simply flipping the image, instructors can ensure that their students are seeing the content correctly.Overall, the OKIOCAM S2-4K is a highly recommended document camera that offers excellent performance, versatility, and value. Its combination of high-resolution capture, easy-to-use controls, and compact design make it a valuable tool for educators, designers, and professionals alike.OKIOLABS is knows to make a variety of models, upgrades and revisions. They are a reputable company that also released updates as needed. I know many companies that just let their product go, and then features don't work correctly, and they they just come out with a new model. OKIOLABS doesn't do that. The only caveat I have is that the base, and arm are relatively light. You can place an empty coffee mug on the base and that will help alleviate the situation, but if even slightly bump the device without anything on it, it tends to tip over easily. Keep that in mind. I plan on adding hook and loop tape underneath and will just plot it down on top of it when needed.

Compact document cam. Packs down for portability. Well designed software.
This is a small document cam with weighted base. It is basically a nice webcam on a pivoting/extending arm. It has a few built-in controls for exposure, zoom, flip, and auto-focus.== Build ==The unit feels substantial out of the box, but all the weight is in the base. It's about 430g (15.2oz) total. It packs pretty small, but I don't like how the cable exits the top of the cam module. The base, and first section of the arm are very stout. After that things get a bit flimsier. You can't really touch the arm during use without it wobbling.== Webcam features ==This is a USB 2.0 webcam. It has 4 buttons. Sun: cycles through exposure/brightness, 6 levels. Magnifying glass: Zooms 5 levels. Outline: re-focus. The side button flips the image. Supposedly it does a single auto focus in document mode, but I haven't figured out what document mode is.The webcam image modes are primarily MJPEG. It has 4:3, and 16:9 aspect ratios. These all support 30 or 25 FPS. 4:3 resolutions: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1600x1200, 3264x2448, 2048x1536, 2592x1944 16:9 resolutions: 1280x720, 1920x1080, 3264x1840Additionally, it does have an uncompressed/YUYV mode with more limited resolutions, and much lower framerates at high resolutions. They are 640x480@30, 800x600@25, 1024x768@15, 1280x720@10, 1600x1200@5, 1920x1080@5, [email protected] webcam exposes a number of software controls. There are the standard brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, and gamma sliders. There are toggles for automatic white balance, and continuous auto focus. Then there are controls for white balance temp, sharpness, backlight compensation, and absolute focus. The microphone is usable for voice, but it does have some low level noise (hiss and crackle).Okiocam appears to release firmware updates for their products, but there aren't any for this new model yet.The webcam chip is SunplusIT SPCA2680A 4K2K/8M USB 2.0 Web Camera controller. Seems to fit the bill. Dunno about the sensor.== Apps ==The live presentation software is available on Win, Mac, Chrome (extension), and iOS. It is necessary for the Okiopoint QR tool to work. Depending on the computer it can be a little slow at following the QR code, but it is functional enough. It has the ability to overlay a second webcam which worked on Win/Mac, but I could not get it to work in the Chrome version. Otherwise it lets you zoom the camera fluidly, pan around, freeze the image, rotate, mirror, and draw on top of the image. Simple enough, but full of features. The native apps (Win/Mac) seem to expose some extra controls like exposure, and re-focus without touching the physical buttons. While the main Live app is mostly for presentations, there's also a surprising amount of other webcam tools available from Okiolabs. Such as snapshot and recorder, time-lapse, stop-motion, and separate camera control apps. I played with the time-lapse and stop-motion. They seem a little less polished, but they work, and could let you do some neat videos. It seems like it would make a reasonable book/document scanner, but no software for this is provided. I played with it a little bit on Linux with capturing some images, and running pdfsandwich. Initial results make it seem feasible, but requires more tuning than I want to do right now. I tried CamScanner on Windows, and it can do a basic job, but did not embed OCR'd text.

So handy for presentations and "scanning" documents and photos
I ordered this camera to "scan" documents and photos. It does a great job at it and for this purpose there is no special driver or software needed. The stand can position the camera just right to get a clean shot of the documents from directly above so there is no keystone distortion in the images where one end of the document or photo appears larger than the other end. The images come out crisp and clear. There is a "magic wand" included in the package that can be used to highlight and perform other functions if the camera is used for presentations. You will need to download their proprietary software to use the wand though. So if you are an old-timer like me and remember the old-fashioned overhead projectors from school, you can think of this as the new version of it. You can put documents, photos, or small to medium sized books under it and use your PC and projector to display them to everyone at the meeting or class. I really appreciate that it is small and stores very compactly back in its original box. Five stars.
