Here are 10 things I love about the MD6950U: 1) it drives triple 4K monitors (extended mode, not just mirror mode), 2) it supports both Macs and Windows machines, 3) there is a single wire connection to the laptops – very convenient and super clean set-up, 4) 140W charging keeps the laptop charged along with other devices like phone, watch, wireless keyboard and mouse, 5) no noticeable lag with a plugged in mouse and keyboard (discovered this the hard way on other docks), 6) works with Apple silicon (M1, M2, and M3 as well as intel based Macs), 7) generous supply of connectors, 5 data and charging USB, plus one non-charging for keyboard/mouse, and each of the video connections can be either DP or HDMI, 8) an intelligent layout with machine connectors on one side (the back) and user connectors on the other (the front), 9) quiet and cool operation – this is important to me for home office, 10) and a 1-click start button.I work out of a home office for a software company using a Windows machine because most of our customers use Windows. For personal use, I prefer a Mac which means I frequently switch between Mac and Windows. This transition is so easy with the MD6950U, just move one USB-C wire to the other laptop and my entire set-up, keyboard, mouse, camera, speaker phone, multiple monitors is instantly available. With other docks I’ve had to reboot between transitions. I was thrilled when I took the MD6950U out of the box, moved the connectors to it and both systems, Windows and Mac, worked immediately, no reboot necessary. There was just one simple download of the DisplayLink driver to get all the monitors working in extended mode. Amazing!The performance of the MD6950U is great too. I’ve learned the hard way there are things you discover after buying and installing a dock. One issue is the dock might not charge the laptop and the MD6950U does this well with fast charging on the Mac and the ThinkPad. Another issue is laggy performance of the mouse. This was so bad on my Lenovo dock that I had to move my mouse receiver to a direct connection on the ThinkPad. This is completely unnecessary with the MD6950U, and the mouse connects through the dock with perfect performance. The MD6950U is perfectly silent which is important to me because I do a lot of video conference calls. It also stays very cool, and I hate a hot office. It also has a generous number of connections, I have several unused USB connectors, how often does that happen? So, my old port replicator stays in my computer bag, so much less desk clutter to put up with.A clean setup is very important to me, especially working out of a home office. The MD6950U is great for this because there is a single wire to the computer and the rest of the connections can be managed for appearance. I also want a cool and quiet work environment that the MD6950U provides.The MD6950U also has memory card readers that are very nice for those of us who enjoy photography. Personally, I’d rather not tether my very expensive SLR and risk damaging the connector and prefer to use a card reader. They can also be used as a convenient memory hub built into the dock.I’ve also found that minisopuru provides great customer support and is very responsive to questions.The MD6950U is fantastic, and I highly recommend it. This unit has a small footprint but it is mighty powerful, I connected 3 x 4k monitors thru this dock from my Dell 5570 using USB-C and the image was crisp and clear with no lag or mouse jitter (which I experienced with the DELL dock) The ports are well laid out, convenient and sufficient, not a bunch of underpowered ports that you will never in all realty use.Overall, a very good dock at a decent price, time will tell how well it holds up and how well it games...
