My wife loves this phone a little more each day
For those of you who think that modern day phones are too big, this flip phone might be for you. I certainly didn't want to jump into the 1st few generations of a flip phone since I wasn't convinced about the folding screen quality and durability. But the tech is much better now and the folding screen isn't so hard to get used to.The specs say this phone is solid. Maybe just a half step down from a flagship phone. I thought that between the Samsung Galaxy flip 5 and this phone that my wife would opt for the Samsung as she's been using Samsung for the past 3 or 4 phones. I was surprised when she agreed to go with the razr.In terms of specs, the flip 5 has a slightly better processor but you can't tell a difference in real life. Same ram and memory for the same MSRP. The inside screen is comparable with the flip 5 being a little brighter but both are clear and sharp and offer a very nice viewing experience. You need to get used to the crease. Buying a flip phone, the crease in the screen is inevitable. When doing any surfing, I find my wife and I forget about the crease. In fact, she hasn't said a thing about it since the 1st day.The outside screen on the razr is hands down better. It allows better screen customization than the flip 5 and it's slightly bigger. It's also a higher resolution screen than the flip 5. I like how you can put almost any app on the small outside screen. You must use the stock keyboard for typing on the outer screen but that's fine. It's a full qwerty keyboard. Fat fingers will struggle but if you are petite like my wife, it's just fine. For anything quick like responding to a text, the phone stays closed and she responds on the outer screen. For anything more time consuming and intensive, flip it open and do your thing. My wife was getting tired of the big phone. The s21 ultra was big enough that she always had to think about which purse to take. Small purses weren't really options. That's why I thought I'd steer her towards a flip phone. It's so nice and compact and this magenta color is really sharp. Perfect for her. Today she went for a walk. No keys. Just her phone and earbuds. It was perfect cuz she had small shorts with small pockets and the phone fit with room to spare. Any other phone would have fallen out.I have thought about downsizing the phone myself. But really, if you can deal with the crease on the main screen, it's still a big screen at 6.9 inches and bigger than most of the modern phones. That's plenty big when you flip it open. But it folds so small that it fits nicely in your pocket. It's thicker than the current phones when folded up but thinner when open.Almost forgot to mention, when we were looking at the flip 5 and the razr, one thing I didn't like about the flip was how much the camera stuck out. The flip has squared sharp edges while the razr has rounded edges. So the razr is sleeker. The rounded edges of the razr let's it sit in the hands better than the squared off edges of the flip 5. Both have a power button fingerprint reader. I don't know how sensitive the flips reader is but the razr is really sensitive and fast.I know the reviews say the flip 5 camera takes better pictures. Maybe when you compare side by side but by no means does the razr take bad pictures. This is getting nitpicky. Sure, you are allowed to critique what you spend your money on but the reality is, the camera is just fine on the razr. I have not put it to the test. My upcoming vacation should allow me to see how good the camera is. I have no doubts my pixel camera will be better but it was better than the s21 ultra too (and just about any phone I've tested). Thus far, my wife hasn't said anything negative about the pictures she has taken. But we're not super duper picky. If you buy this phone fully understanding the limits of a flip phone and it's advantages and do not have unreal expectations, I think this phone is almost perfect. If I needed a new phone, I would definitely consider this one though I'd probably wait for the newest model due out mid year in 2024. I've always loved the razr line even dating back to the original flips Motorola used to make. Seeing that iconic name back in play with a new modern day phone has really perked my interest. I'm just really glad it has lived up to my expectations.

Exceptional tool for coping with cognitive disabilities
This may be an odd thing to assert for a phone, but the Razr+ 2023 has been surprisingly good at helping me in a long term recovery from a brain injury. It's familiar and solid -- the controls are great, the software seems peppy, the displays are both *really* nice -- but it's also different enough thanks to the flip-fold and external display that I can build new associations to new workflows and have an easier time of it.Further, I replaced my Pixel 7 Pro with this, and I won't ever look back. The Pixel 7 Pro had a lot of weird issues I don't expect in a modern phone. The Razr+ had none of those issues -- peripherals work on plugin without troubleshooting, biometrics aren't unstable -- it just works. Also, it's pretty and fun to fiddle and play with, which forces me to engage with it and again -- helps with the therapy. The flex-stand stuff -- folding it in tent-shape or like a tetris block so it sits on your desk as a player -- works *remarkably* well. There seems to be little wear on the hinge so far. Bluetooth just works out of the thing.I did get a case on it as soon as I could -- Jerry Rig Everything discovered the non-display half of the phone's glass back has little protection behind it so it can crack easily, even if the phone's displays are solid -- and that's worked perfectly well.It does charge pretty slowly (amusingly, plugging in a DAC/headphone jack adaptor convinced the phone to rapid-charge when plugging into the mains didn't), but it's reliable in that charging. Wireless charging is 5W and acceptable for that level. The battery'll easily give you 24 hours and really doesn't drain fast under load, but a lot of modern phones will give you 48 hours in the same conditions. It's not a major issue, however. All in all, I love this thing. It's good for my brain.

The new smartphone experience!
This was my first time having a flip phone and I was happy that my first flipping smartphone experience was with Razr+ even though I returned it.Pros:- The phone being compact and able to be easily carried around was so refreshing especially coming from an iPhone where it's just a heavy block- Outer screen came in clutch so many times especially when I was commuting from work and needed to see the next direction while I was driving or taking public transportation. Was able to quickly respond to texts, see notifications, change music, and even scan boarding passes while I was traveling internationally- Flippy! Able to flip my phone and having the capability to use my phone in a compact or use it to its truest size was very refreshing and fun flipping the phone open to answer textsCons:- Coming from iPhone and Samsung, the Motorola's software was very difficult to overcome, at least for me. I know some people love the "stock Android" look, feel, and UI, but I just wasn't one of them.- Not sure if it was just my unit, but there was always a small creak nice coming out from the hinge. I wasn't sure if my unit was defective or if it was a common thing. After researching online, I see that it's pretty common and needed to get used to it, but I couldn't deal with the hinge noise. First time flip phone making those noises made me have anxiety.- Lack of cases, accessories, and etc.Overall, 4/5 phone with great experience as the phone had great battery life, beautiful internal and external display, but I think that I'm not a flip phone user. I decided to go back to Samsung after holding my iPhone for 3 years.
