Company must be bankrupt....
Mine broke less than 4 months after purchase. Emailed company and they gave me an RMA to send back. I sent back in June and here it is December and still no unit back. I have emailed them several times with no response. DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT. #1 - It is cumbersome. #2 - Does not work when tested some times #3 - When it does break, you're out over 200$. I just wish I could get my money back and get a good unit since I fish solo 40 miles offshore a lot.

Great Idea... Well executed
This product works! No more of those irritating, coiled, deadman switch lines. I always tried to be safe and hook up those deadman switches when I was boating alone. But found I would often disconnect it from myself half way through my fishing day.... Because I was always getting it caught on something. This autotether solves the problem. I simply set it up at the start of my boating day and never give it another thought... So now I am always safe... Could save my life some day! Great peace of mind... I wouldn't be without it...

be ready for inadvertent engine shut downs
Followed directions and it still just shuts the engine off at very bad times. WOT is not the time to have shut downs and I have followed manf. directions to a T. Not a reliable product.

Works fine, fob a little cumbersome.
Overall, I like this item very much. Couldn’t be easier to “Install,” and has worked every time I’ve tested it, be it by distance or dunk. I’ve never actually “Needed” it, which is a good thing! I mounted the head unit to the dashboard on my boat with hook/loop Command strips, so I can use it with the main engine and move it to my kicker motor, if I’m fishing/trolling alone. My only grip is I wish the fob was a little less clunky to have clipped to my belt or vest. Maybe if it had a clip, like a 1990’s pager?

Keeps you safe
I have had these units on every powerboat I have owned in the last 10 years. Autotether is easy to install, easy to use and it keeps you safe while operating your powerboat. It is a massive upgrade from the coil tether kill switch. I highly recommend the Autotether!

Stops working. No customer service
Owned this for 2 years and maintained it with new battery's each boating season. Failed on me when I fell overboard. Luckily I was in the intercoastal and could swim to shore. Shutter to think if I was in the gulf I probably would not be writing this review. Concept is good but equipment does not stand up.

AUTOTHETHER---NO SERVICE/SUPPORT AFTER SALRE!
My "Autothether" HOST unit which was not used for the past 3-5 months...started sounding an alarm. The HOST indicated that batteries had to be replaced---I replaced all 6 batteries in the HOST UNIT AND the batteries in both the Pilot and Passenger units. Two of the small yellow plastic tabs which hold the batteries in place also broke-super glued in place! The HOST unit still continued to sound an alarm. I tried to reset" and turn-off to no avail. I telephoned the phone numbers on the Manual and the "800" number...leaving messages for SALES, SUPPORT AND GENERAL QUESTIONS over two week ago and NO RETURN CALLS. EVEN FAXED A REQUEST TO THAT NUMBER---NO AVAIL...now, WHEN CALLING ANY OF THE NUMBERS---ALL ARE DISCONNECTED!!!BUSINESS MUST HAVE FOLDED---IF NOT TERRIBLE SERVICE/SUPPORT AFTER THE SALE!John Castelluccio, Jr. New Orleans, LA 504-481-1344

Good idea, poorly made
I bought one, installed easily and functioned as described for about three months. Then it just stopped working. Battery change, resets, no joy. Unable to get a response from the company. Terrible product. Excellent concept, somebody just needs to do a better job designing, manufacturing them.
