Product description Information about ASCIANZ by NPC Compression Travel Flight SocksIf you are travelling by air and in a commercial aircraft, you will be within a pressurised cabin, with variants based on journey times [short haul/long haul] and seating arrangements [leg room] - which differ from airline to airline and the class you have booked. Long periods of inactivity, combined with cramped conditions and dehydration, all combine to increase the risk factors associated with air travel, particularly long haul flights. It is not unusual for passengers to take off their footwear on a flight, particularly long-haul flights and for the duration of the flight. Whether 12 or 60 years of age, it is likely you’d struggle to put the same pair of shoes on due to leg swelling as a result of fluid build-up. DVT occurs when blood flows too slowly through the veins. The blood forms a clot that blocks up deep veins, usually in the legs. DVT doesn’t usually have any immediate symptoms, making it difficult to spot. However, typical signs include a swollen or painful calf or thigh, paleness and increased heat around the affected area.Compression Socks are typically described as ‘Flight Socks’ yet circulatory problems such as DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) and leg swelling (Oedema), can also occur when you spend any time inactive, for example on a car or coach journey and indeed, when static for long periods at an office desk.If left untreated, people with DVT are at risk of developing a pulmonary embolism, when part of the blood clot breaks away and travels to the lung, which can be fatal. Indications 1. ASCIANZ by NPC Travel Comfort Compression Socks are designed to be worn in place of normal socks and throughout your entire journey. Never wear normal socks inside or outside the Compression Socks. 2. Always wear both right and left socks. 3. Ensure that the socks are pulled up to just below the knee. Safety Warning DVT High Risk Factors: History of DVT or pulmonary embolism, Cancer, Stroke, Heart disease, Inherited tendency to clot (thrombophilia), Recent surgery (pelvic region or legs), Obesity, Diabetes If any of the risk factors identified above are applicable, indeed if you are unsure of other conditions affecting you when reading this information, first consult your Doctor or Healthcare Professional before using Travel Comfort Compression Socks. Risk is also increased if: You are over 40 years of age, You are pregnant, You have recently had a baby, You are taking the contraceptive pill, You are taking Hormone Replacement Therapy. If any of the risk factors identified above are applicable, indeed if you are unsure of other conditions affecting you when reading this information, it is recommended that you first consult your Doctor or Healthcare Professional before using Travel Comfort Compression Socks. Tight fit, but they work
I recently had to fly to Australia. Whilst looking forward to enjoying my time in Australia, I was not looking forward to the long flight - or the fleshy water filled balloons attached to my knees that my last long haul flight resulted in. I recieved these the day before my flight, and slapped them on (OK squeezed uncomfortably into them as they are very tight) 30 minutes before my flight. Happy to report that no swelling ensued on the flight over or the flight back (not sure if I can say the same about sweaty feet, but you can't win them all). I would recommend and re-purchase if needed, they fulfilled the purpose they were bought for,

standing a lot
In my job i stand up for a very long amount of time between 8-11 hours 6 days a week so i thought i would make sure i dont get them horrid veins on my legs, i had read that flight socks are really good for this. They came on time and the packaging was really good, they are comfortable but not as tight as i thought they would be, so im not sure they are working.

Super Traveller Flight Socks
I fly to the USA at least three times a year and to other parts of the world at least once a year. I also suffer from Varicose Veins which is not a 'treatable condition' on the NHS in my part of the world (East of Scotland) so I have to self-treat the problem. The main way of doing so is to use flight socks not only when travelling but also every day. These socks are excellent and I wear them all the time. The reason for only four stars is simply because they are a wee bitty tight and I don't yet know how durable they will be but I suspect that they will, in time, deserve five stars.

Delighted
After a minor (ish) op, I was told I had to wear the white surgical socks the hospital issued (one pair only) for two weeks! I asked if 'flight socks' would be an OK substitute and hospital agreed. These were great. Much cheaper than high street chain chemists and a great fit (I am a ladies size 8 UK). I am also tall (5'11') and they fitted me really well. It meant I could go to work without feeling a complete gonk in white socks and could use the hospital issue at night. Really good quality and have saved them for a long haul flight later this year.

Top too tight
I measured my calf at the widest point and ordered 'large' on that basis, as on the picture there's a sticker on the front showing you the size you need. When the package arrived, it was 'overpacked', in a huge box with scrunched paper all around it and just had a sticker that said 'L' on it, not the listed sizes. The socks themselves are quite tight all around. However, they're MUCH tighter at the top (where the elastic is) than at the ankle, any my understanding is that it should be the other way around. I tested them by wearing them for half an hour in bed but my (previously OK) feet started to throb and feel painful, so I took them off.I've bought some velcro hook and look, and wide elastic, so I'm going to cut the top off and try making an adjustable garter, but I generally regret buying this.

I am still alive and didn't die of DVT
I bought these for my long haul flight to Australia. They worked perfectly as I am still alive and didn't die of DVT, weather that was thanks to the socks or just luck I don't know. What I do know is that they are tight and after 24 hours of being on your legs, DVT seems a good alternative to the pain of very tight socks! If fate could have told me that the socks worked, then I would highly recommend them.

Never again
Got the largest size for comfort in the car as I have been driving long hours so wanted to prevent swollen legs and as I had a DVT once before I really cared about my legs being compressed. After few hours I thought my legs were going to explode. These killer socks were so tight (and no I am not oversized, size 10), that I felt pain pain and agony and when I finally took them off, I suffered another few hours to get back to normal....No more of these socks...I threw them in the bin....waste of money....Bought them also for my mum but how can they fit her (size 22) when they are small for me? thx but no
