Professional Shots.
I own a small online business selling products, so product photography is very important for me. I have wanted to invest in one of these for a while now, so I was very happy to receive this one. It comes flat packed and is easy to fold up and keep together. It is easy to pop up too and is as simple as plug and play. The ring light is super bright, and the remote on the cable is straightforward. Now I was torn between 3 and 4 stars on this, but I opted for 4 because the good outweighed the bad. The bad points however, are all because of the backdrop sheets. They are not very good unfortunately. The velcro strips have been put on the backdrops the opposite way to the velcro on the box. They have also been folded for shipping the wrong way around which means if you put velcro to velcro, you are left with an unsightly bump in the middle of your photos which I have tried to show. It still works the other way around, but you won't be able to use the velcro strips. The backdrops also don't fit in the box when it folds, so you will have to store them separately which isn't very convenient. Other than the backdrops though, and when you manage to get them to sit without the bump showing, the photos turn out great. I took a picture of a giraffe ornament, and it looks great. I highly recommend giving it a try, just be prepared to encounter some slightly irritating issues that need some sorting.

a good tool for a beginner who wants to move up a level in their product photography
PROS-easy to set up-lots of background colour options (though faffy to place)-can shoot through the top of the box-wireless & foldable (very portable)CONS-would have been better to have fully matte backgrounds (I am now using paper instead, but I’m lucky to have a lot of it)-LEDs aren’t all that bright. To make sure you have no ambient light contamination, use in a dark room (or shoot through a black cloth from the front, to prevent reflection of you and your camera showing in the products, or shoot through white, to throw light back in)-photo number 2 in the product description gives an incorrect description of what “CRI” is. It’s not brightness, nor “grey colour”, rather it’s the smoothness of the spectrum of light produced by the LEDs (lower quality LEDs e.g. might have a “spike” of magenta or green, making those two colours dominant in your photos)NOTES-I recommend putting some diffusion fabric over the LEDs, they show up quite prominently in reflective product surfaces-the velcro attachments for the background sheets are awkward. I recommend using paper anywaysMY STAR RATINGS:1* substandard, mostly cons2** barely acceptable, cons outweigh the pros3*** meets the basic requirements, cons balance the pros4**** good product, pros outweigh the cons5***** exceptional, all (or almost all) pros
