The Grad Kit 5 contains the most commonly used densities of the Hard Edge Neutral Density filter - 0.3 (1stop), 0.6 (2 stops) and 0.9 (3 stops). Save over 36% compared with purchasing the filters separately. Neutral density (or ND) filters produce a grey neutral tone and are used in photography to reduce light, enabling more control over exposure and depth of field without affecting color contrast. NDs are also available in graduated filters, both in hard and soft edge. These filters are clear in the bottom half of the filter with a gradual transition to the ND effect in the top half. They are primarily used for light reduction in skylines of landscape shots. Graduated NDs are available in Soft Edge or Hard Edge varieties. Soft edge grads have a smooth transition from clear to ND. Hard edge grads have a more defined hard lined transition and are usuallye used for longer focal lengths. ND Grads are made in different densities according to the level of light reduction from 1/3 to as much as 4 stops of light. This 85mm filter kit is usable with Hitech 85mm holder systems or any 85mm (3.35"/P Size) holder. The filters are 85mm wide but 110mm (4.35") long so that it can be moved up and down in the holder to line up the graduation line easily with the horizon. The kit is also available in 100mm, 150mm and 165mm sizes. Hitech filters are made from the highest quality 1.5mm optical resin. hitech 85 nd grad (hard) filters
Hi all, Just bought these Hitech filters very recently and there the dog's whatsits, I was in the market for a set of nd hard grads so did a good bit of research on what was available out there first was the Lee make but i had to bin that idea straight away because of the price range (but i would have loved to have got them) I then looked at the Cokin range but some revues said that they were a bit flimsey and also gave off a slight colour cast, that left me with Kood and Hitech, Kood i could'nt find that much information on but there was plenty for the later, Most said that they were a good price and also good reputation so after much deliberation they were purchased from Amazon delivery was fast as usual and when i tried them on my Canon eos 50D the results were superb i bought the 3 pack (03 06 09) filters i dont think that there will be much use of the 03 filter but the 09 gives you brilliant results,My next purchase will be the big 10 stopper, all in all i would not hesitate to recomend these filters to anyone.

Very Good
I originally purchased the soft edge equivalent set from Hitech when I first got back into photography, around a year ago, as I was concerned that a hard transition might look too abrupt on the final images. However, I found that the graduation was such that they weren't blocking out enough light across the enough of darkened area of the filter. i.e. it tapered off too much across the top portion of the filter. These are much more effective and I haven't use the soft grads since receiving this set. They still (as with the soft grads) suffer from a slight purple cast - hence the four stars - but that is easily corrected in Lightroom.

Good quality
Good quality. I can't say cheap as after all it the are just little rectangles which probably cost pennies to make.Still the are much cheaper than Lee and nearly as good
