why is illegal to refill 1lb container? They sell adapters for that. But this looks much easier

I was refilling the disposable tanks for awhile, but I kept noticing that many would develop "trickle leaks" (hold it up to your ear and hear the faintest little hiss). About half the canisters would bleed very slowly. Also, when you refill, there's a relief button near the valve on the 1lb tank, that needs to be depressed while filling until liquid propane comes out. About half of those don't re-seat themselves fully closed after a refill. In the end, refilling the disposable canisters is probably more trouble than their worth. So is the Flame King kits. I can refill these canisters multiple times, but... After the 5th or 10th refill of their cylinders about HALF of THOSE also continue to leak when you disconnect from their specialized filling valve. Worse yet, many of them will gush liquid propane onto your hands while you're disconnecting, and will even penetrate wool or cloth gloves giving you a very nasty freeze burn. In the end, I think I'll just buy lots of 5gal tanks, with hoses and adapters for any device that uses a 1lb tank. Hope this info helps.

Can I use any refill adaptor or does it need to be the one offered by flame king? I already have an adapter that works on the "non refillbale" tanks.
