I was expecting some natural separation in this Smartfoodies Natural Peanut Butter because it's made only from peanuts with no emulsifiers or Palm oil, but I wasn't quite expecting the rock-solid block of peanuttiness that was lurking at the bottle of the jar. I assume it's been sitting on a warehouse shelf for quite a while although there's about 5 months of use-by life left in the one I received.Usually this wouldn't be a major issue and a good stir with a blunt knife or spoon would mix things up again but this one was particularly stubborn so mechanical means were called for. I have a massage gun, one of those rechargeable devices used to ease cricks in your neck, and wondered if that might help - and it did. Holding the vibrating device against the side of the jar loosened up the solid mass and made it stirrable. Stirring and 'massaging' the jar a couple of times actually worked and blended everything together again. You could actually see trapped air bubbles in the butter rising to the surface while it was being vibrated, it looked like molten lava. It's not an original (or completely crazy) idea because a similar technique is used to lay concrete, but who knew it might work for peanut butter?Aside from needing a very stern stirring the peanut butter is lovely and has a bit more texture than most smooth butters, which works for me. It's got a nice natural sweetness without any added sugar and is as moreish as any peanut butter. It is very oily, also like any nut butter, but when it arrives you can pour off some of that natural (and healthy) oil before you stir it all together again, so you have some control over it. It's certainly not cheap but the quality is good, once you've done the hard work of blending it all together again.

Amazing quality, smooth peanut butter with no horrible additives at all. The taste is just like you've grabbed a handful of peanuts, but in a much easier to consume form. I've had this straight from the jar, but also added to smoothies where it works a treat.It's satisfying, moreish and nothing can beat the taste and feeling of eating something that is obviously so pure.
