Working flawlessly with 50ft and 75ft cable runs
I got this to replace a storm damaged splitter. The old splitter was a bit laggy in establishing a connection on the longer 75ft cable, sometimes needing the TV to be power cycled a couple times before the connection would be made. I assumed it was due to a poor handshake between the TV and the old splitter for the proper resolution, etc. So I really liked the feature on this unit that has the switches to control that resolution handshake or set it to a fixed value. I chose to set it for the fixed 1080p resolution since I am still old school on all my TVs, at least until I upgrade the main living room TV.Once I got this connected in the living room, which has a nice short 6 ft cable run, it fired right up without any hiccups. I was very pleased to find that the display showed up within just a few seconds on the two farthest runs, on 50ft and 75ft unpowered extension cables, in the other rooms once the TVs were switched to those inputs.I also liked the heft on this unit. My old one was fairly light. And those long extensions are pretty large and stiff so I always had to anchor the old splitter firmly or the cables would just pull it off the smooth glass shelf. This one stayed put with no problem. Although it does have some nice screw mounting holes if you need them. The one minor complaint I have with this unit, and it seems to be a standard design for most units, is the relationship between the front indicator lights and the cable connections in the rear. Although the labels are correct based on the typical left to right numbering of the ports, the result is an unintuitive layout for troubleshooting. The sequential labels are in order when viewed from their respective front and back sides, but not when viewed from the front once installed. The number one port light is on the far left as you would expect, but the matching number one connection is on the far right when viewed from the front. It's always a lot easier troubleshooting cable and signal issues when the layout of the indicator lights matches the layout of the cables when viewed from the same side. Flipping the unit around to read the labels isn't practical if screwed down. So it's a little confusing when working with 8 potential cables to remember that the physical cable layout is different from the indicator light layout.

GREAT SPLITTER
We use this for splitting our monitors. Having 8 monitors that we can show our broadcast is a benefit as we can have remote TV's throughout the venue. When doing a live event putting the band or entertainment on 8 different screens makes everyone who attends feel that they got what they paid for. This splitter is large enough to handle most everything we do and having an aluminum body is strong enough to be packed, shipped, unpacked, used, packet etc. etc. for years to come. Good piece of equipment.

briefly blacks out my displays
I want to duplicate the display on my desktop computer's main monitor on a second monitor. The second monitor is sometimes connected and sometimes not connected, or turned off. Both monitors are 1080p. Most HDMI splitters I've tried can duplicate the image, but fail in various ways when I disconnect and reconnect the second monitor. Apparently the splitters tell the computer when the second display is connected or disconnected, and the computer needlessly tries to automagically adapt, and fouls up the displays, even though they're both 1080p. This splitter offers 15 different EDID configurations, including some that claim to use a fixed 1080p HDMI signal regardless of what monitors are connected. One of the settings, mode 12 (Fixed EDID FULL HD (1080p/60Hz)-36bit 2D video 2ch AUDIO), did ignore whether the second monitor was connected or not, so the computer didn't react badly when I connected and disconnected the second monitor. However, it introduced a new problem, the splitter intermittantly turned the main monitor all black for a few seconds, sometimes when I switched program NextPVR from a normal size window to a full screen window, and other times when I switched the Chrome browser from one site to another. I also tried several other modes, and all had problems of one sort or another, for my application. Since the splitter may well work with other customer's applications that are more compatible, and since it looks very well constructed, I gave it three stars. LATER: cenmate offered a refund, so they stand behind their product even when it encounters oddball incompatibility problems, so I added another star. Besides, they also make another product that did work in my application, the "8K@60Hz HDMI Splitter 1 in 2 Out, HDMI 2.1 Splitter Supports 4K@120Hz, EDID, 48 Gbps, VRR, ...", so the odds are that their products work well for most customers.

Very pleased. Great features and configurability
Getting great use out of this CENMATE HDMI splitter. I had been using 1 in 2 out splitter to transmitter a second screen to both a PC screen and a remote projector in a church sanctuary. However, I found I had additional need to transmit signals to other remote televisions and screens. By adding this 1 in 8 out splitter, I now have plenty of options to send additional signals up to 4K, even via additional wireless HDMI transmitters.I like that this unit has an auto mode as well as the ability to set the output mode based on some toggles. Using various types of monitors, I found I needed to set the mode to 1080@60 to get all of the displays to show appropriately.Works well, quality build, easy to mount.
