Rookie reporter Meryl Stryfe and her jaded partner are after the most wanted man in Noman’s Land, Vash the Stampede. But they’re left with more questions than answers. How can a pacifist rack up such a bounty, and why is he so hard to pin down?

A fan of the original Trigun, and a fan of this one too.
Side Note:I have not finished watching the entirety of this show yet. I am half way through. Also, I have not watched the original Trigun series for several years, so my memory might be a little choppy at times. Thank youI had always enjoyed the original Trigun anime series. I remember seeing it released on adult swim way back in 2004. I was hesitant at first buying this blu ray updated/ re-imagined series. I thought it was going to be an exact re-telling of the original Trigun series. However, it is NOT a beat for beat retelling, instead it has been entirely re-designed/ re-imagined with both familiar characters / plot points, as well as some original ones. I'll admit, the original Trigun series is a slow burn, you don't learn much about Vash, or other characters until more the middle/ end of the original series (it is not until later in the series that you find out he has a brother, etc.). However, in this retelling Knives is introduced in episode 1. I appreciate this newer series in the sense that Knives wasn't just sending out mercenaries to Kill Vash, he is more pro-active in this series and at times steps in to take care of business himself directly. I also like how in this version Knives is taking back the plants to slowly kill off humanity. In the original (sorry if I am off, I have not watched the original series for several years) as the audience you know Knives wants to kill humanity, but there is no clear plan on how he is going to do it. In this newer series, he is clear and pretty up front with how he will handle humanity. I also liked this Nicolas D Wolfwood a little better then the original Trigun. In the first Trigun series it isn't until later on that you find out about who he really is and what his intensions have been throughout his time knowing Vash. In this re-telling/ re-imagining from the beginning you are not sure if he is trustworthy, and you find out pretty quickly about his past (way more in detail/ depth). Also, in the original he claimed to be a preacher, in this he claims to be an undertaker. For those who loved the original Millie character she has been replaced by an alcoholic guy (can't remember his name). Not sure why she was taken out, but this might bother some who loved her character (she may show up later... I don't know). I also liked (in this re-imagined series) how Vash (with different villains) has some back story, and this gives more of a tragic vibe to their characters, instead of like in the original where it was just one person after another trying to kill him. I also appreciate how they toned Vash's personality down a little bit. I especially like how they took out the moments where he came across (in the original series) like a pervert (i.e., looking up girls skirts, etc.). He is still a goof ball, but not as extreme.Do I love this one as much as the original...not sure. It is so similar but yet so different at the same time that I appreciate both for what they are as separate beings. But I really do enjoy and appreciate this re-telling/ re-imagining, and will watch again. One thing I do NOT like is Vash's new coat...I hate the design of that new coat. It looks like any hoody you can buy on line. I don't know why they took his awesome trench coat away. Also, some reviewers complained about how this series was packaged. I had no issues. My discs came in the traditional plastic Blu ray carrier, that you find with most anime/ movies.

Wonderful story
I've been a long-time fan of the original series back in the day. This series more than met my expectations. It is well worth the money.

A Great Retelling of the Trigun World
Both the storyline and production values blend well with the series and movie that came before. If you are a fan of those, you will most likely feel comfortable watching this new version. I definitely was.("ANIME: Storytelling at its best")
