He falls first and I did too
I’ve had my eye on this series for some time and I was super excited to be able to read this sweet and steamy story. It was everything I wanted for this story and more. Emma was a delightfully fun and sassy character. When the book opens with her breaking into a party at an exclusive club, I knew this was going to be a fun read. Preston was such a golden retriever hero and I adored how he was so down to earth despite being a longtime professional NFL player. Their meetcute was adorable that set the stage for their romance that I couldn’t get enough of. Their chemistry burned so hot, but steadily toward some fantastically spicy scenes. Kat does not rush her romance story even though the beginning of their love story took place during the span of a week. I wondered if the story was going to end before touching on certain things, but I’m happy to report (and was happy to read) that Kat did exactly what I wanted with this story.Emma went to the Hamptons to discover what she wants to do with her life and who she is at 25. On a whim she decided to sneak into a private party for a night of fun and never dreamed she would bump into Preston not knowing he’s a star NFL quarterback. When he claimed that she’s his girlfriend that night to dodge some persistent bridesmaids, neither bargained on where the week would take them. Each day they learned more about each other and falling was inevitable.I really enjoyed the cuteness of their love story and even though there is that dreaded 3rd act split, it serves a valid purpose in this story. These characters communicate and I couldn’t stop swooning over everything that Preston said. He’s a guy who puts it all out there and I adored how in perfect golden retriever fashion, he fell first. This amazing book is a sweet opposites attract, sports, fake dating romance with a fantastic group of side characters and a Gram who always says what’s on her mind, IYKYK. As my first in this series, I can’t wait to go fall in love with each of Emma’s friends!

Preston & Emma are SO Delightful!
As someone who grew up on Long Island, hearing that a story was going to be featuring the Hamptons had me sold instantly. The Hamptons are renowned for their charm, luxury, and magic, something I wish had been captured more vividly in "Bright Lights & Summer Nights." I’m not sure if the author has ever been, but if she had, I think she missed out on the true essence of the Hamptons. Also, not for nothing, but there are multiple Hamptons... Which one are we talking about here? Trust me when I say it makes a difference.Okay, back to the story. I LOVE Preston and Emma. Their meet-cute was perfectly playful and entertaining. Every interaction between them that first night was filled with humor, and their instant spark was delightful. I appreciated that the author didn’t shy away from both characters admitting their attraction right off the bat, making it clear that this was an insta-lust turned complicated story. Once Preston volunteers Emma to pose as his fake girlfriend for all his family events leading up to his little sister’s wedding, the lines between them start to blur beautifully.Preston is a character you can't help but love. He's a big, grumpy billionaire who defied his family to become a successful QB. At 37, he’s wise and knows what he wants but is stuck in a loop of his life, unsure how to break the cycle—until Emma literally falls into his arms. His possessiveness and broodiness were portrayed in a way that made him incredibly endearing. His deep care for his sister, his gram, and Emma was apparent, and I enjoyed watching him come to terms with his feelings and admitting them to Emma. Preston's demanding nature in the most perfect, hot way made me swoon, much like Emma!Emma, on the other hand, is a 25-year-old going through a quarter-life crisis, trying to prove to herself that she’s worthy of love and time. However, HE’S STANDING RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU, GIRL!!!!! This aspect of her journey—sabotaging the relationship unless she finds a way to love herself first—felt somewhat overblown. She seemed super happy and in love one day, then doubting her ability to be loved the next. This inconsistency could be attributed to her age, but it was a bit frustrating as a reader.Overall, "Bright Lights & Summer Nights" is a very romantic and fun read. Despite some missed opportunities in capturing the Hamptons' charm, the story of Preston and Emma was engaging and heartwarming. Additionally, this book boasts one of my top 5 favorite covers ever, so appealing that I might buy it just to stare at the cover!

This is one of my favorite series, and I was so excited for this third book.Kat Singleton nailed it again with another perfect man. All the guys in this series are *chef's kiss*.Preston seems grumpy at first, but when Emma comes into his life, he shows his protective side, not to mention his jealous side.He knows how to flirt and has a mouth that makes me melt. And the nickname he gave Emma is just perfect. 🫶I absolutely loved how they met; it was so much fun, and you can feel their chemistry from that very first moment. Seriously, the banter in this book is incredible.Emma is an amazing FMC, and I've loved her since the other two books. Right now, she's going through a phase in her life where she's on a journey of self-discovery. In my opinion, this part of the book felt rushed, and I wish it had been more developed.Despite that, I think it was a really enjoyable book, and I had a lot of fun with these two.
