Upstreman U-Shaped Window Air Conditioner with Full Window View, Cools up to 380 Sq. Ft, Energy Saving, Quiet Operation, Open Window Flexibility

It makes a loud noise every 10min like a engine turning on. Even on quite mode. Very annoying.

I tried two other saddle / U-shaped air conditioners before settling on this one. The over-the-sill shape is an excellent feature that all window air conditioners should have, and several do. I settled on this Upstreman unit because I am a very light sleeper, and its fan and heat pump are very quiet. Here are all the air conditioners I tried and what I thought about them:1. Midea U-Shaped ACPros: Physical buttons. Pumps water from the evaporator (the inside half of the unit) to the outside to drain.Cons: The plastic enclosure made loud creaking and popping noises as it thermally contracted and expanded, and these noises kept waking me up. Midea agreed that this shouldn't happen and gave me a refund, but I probably won't buy another one if I plan to sleep near it. It also requires a traditional mounting bracket rather than being slung over the windowsill, so that was annoying and time-consuming.2. GE Profile saddle-shaped ACPros: True saddle/over-the-sill design. Able to expand to fit over deep windowsills. Pumps water from the evaporator to the outside to drain.Cons: It made a somewhat loud boom/pop sound every time the compressor shut off, which kept waking me up, so I couldn't keep using it. Additionally, the timer function only seemed to work if you download the app, so that's a big nope from me.3. Upstreman saddle-shaped ACPros: True saddle/over-the-sill design. Very quiet heat pump and fan. Intuitive timer function. Can pump water from the evaporator to the outside.Cons: The water pump turns on intermittently, and is louder than the fan and heat pump, and it did wake me up a couple of times.However, Upstreman's support team was very understanding of my surprise and frustration at this unexpected noise, and they explained that you can prevent the water pump from turning on if you allow the unit's evaporator to drain inside by removing the water plug under the evaporator. So I let it drain into a bucket as it ran overnight, and the unit stayed very quiet all night, never waking me up.As a light sleeper, this is a tradeoff I'm willing to make, especially since the other two air conditioners' loud noises had no resolution at all. And this air conditioner can still drain outside if I want it to: just replace the water plug and let it pump out the water automatically. Even if you're *not* a light sleeper, this unit is probably still right for you given the problems I encountered with the other two air conditioners.

I bought 3 Soleus Air ACs for 2 bedrooms and the livingroom because I love the way they free up window real estate, as well as their external aesthetic. They are reasonably quiet and powerful. The one in my bedroom, however, often goes into "FL" mode and stops until I release excess water buildup from the drain hole on the lower left inside edge. The Upstreman, which replaces my bedroom unit, also has an outside drain hole, so it can self drain, which is an obvious improvement on the Soleus design. It is noticeably quieter, even on its highest setting, than the Soleus, and more aesthestically pleasing and modern looking, with its all white facade. While it lacks WiFi connectivity, it comes with a remote. If you need a smart AC, you can achieve this by adding a Cielo or Sensibo controller. But the Upstreman is already a well-engineered, well-built AC at the right price without the unnecessary "smarts". Kudos to Upstreman for focusing on what's important without the marketing frills!

I ordered this AC unit and it didn’t fit my opening. I wrote the seller and asked how to ship it back and never received a reply. I then paid Fed X $125 to ship it back. I still haven’t gotten a refund.

Love how it frees up window space. Would give 5 starts but it came damaged right out of the box. Easy to install. Quiet. May order another for another room.

Wasn't sure how this was gonna work but it did and it's great very cold super quiet like it's not even on. Loving this new design. Def buying another and def recommend.
