Jill gets it
Jill is constantly in some new level of growth and that’s made clear in her book. She talks about finding what you’re comfortable with but using her book as a guide if you are not sure where to begin. She reinforced bodily autonomy of a pregnant person by reminding her readers to ask important questions and consider things they may not have thought about before. Yes - this is not profound in the fact that there are a million baby books. This is profound in her own Jill way where she makes you feel normal for being human and not living through a filter and by creating a parenting space where you are welcome, no matter who you are. This is not a book where she is going to tell you ‘organic this, organic that, no television, etc’. Her book is not made to shame. She has basically made a book that says ‘holy crap, you are creating tiny human?! How awesome because that’s so hard! Here are some tips to guide you to what’s best for you and your situation.’If you just want a traditional pregnancy/parenting book - this is not for you.If you want to read kind, realistic words from someone that will not glamorize the 💩 parts of pregnancy - I encourage you to purchase and read this.

The Kind of Empowering Pregnancy Book Every Woman Needs!
This is absolutely the perfect gift for a newly pregnant friend or family member! I remember being terrified by the clinical feeling of all the things that could go wrong thanks to books like "What to Expect When Expecting" - but this book keeps it easy going and helps to ease that constant feeling of worry! It's fun (seriously, everyone should know about the padscicle before they are frantically googling for relief!) but also bursting with real down to earth information from multiple resources! It will empower you to handle those comments from strangers and unsolicited advice as well as figuring out what your goals are for your pregnancy, delivery, and marriage during this chapter of your life. Jill Krause did an outstanding job on this adorable book - it's a must have to treat yourself or your pregnant loved one with!

Helpful task based advice but no finance planning
I like that it's task based. If you need to prepare for something to deal with the stress this is for you. I was disappointed it didnt hit on any money or financial planning as that is on a lot of expectant parents' minds, but not bad overall.

Very Concise and informative.
Just enough details and facts but also enough humility to let the reader know everyone's experience is unique. There is no one size fits all pregnancy experience, so embrace it as it comes! I am aware this book is geared towards mothers to be. But I would of appreciated more info geared towards partners especially on how to be supportive during the stuggle of breast feeding or the lack there of and also how to help with incidence of post-partum depression.

Not a shower gift
IMO, This is best for moms who have had an easy road to pregnancy and are experiencing everything with a fresh and clean slate. I was disappointed by this book - but it’s completely subjective. For me, after a long road to clearing the first trimester, and A LOT of knowledge and experience in the tank, it just felt shallow and ditzy to me in a lot of ways. If you’re into social media, you might love it.

Great Advice
I purchased this as a gift but of course I had to read it before giving it to the mom-to-be. The book is concise and full of practical advice delivered with authenticity and humor. From padsicles to picking a pediatrician, it's basically all of the advice I want to give any expectant mother in my life, all in one place. Also, I appreciated the care taken to use gender-inclusive language throughout the book. I'm (probably) done birthing babies but this will definitely be a book I'll continue to share with expecting friends and family.

Perfect gift for first time parents!
This is an adorable book full of great advice. I wish it had existed when I was a first-time mom, since the casual, chatty tone is a much more helpful tactic than the scary, worst-case-scenario advice in many pregnancy books. When you're pregnant, so much is out of your control that having a list of 50 things you can do, plan, or think about is a great way to feel like you're on top of everything. Put this book on your registry or give it to the new mom you know!
