Bigger isn't always better
I've had many great speakers over the years, bookshelf and floor standing. I just set up my new SVS Nano speakers this afternoon. Ordinarily, I would wait until they were broken in to review them. That's not necessary in this case. The Nano speakers are more compact than I anticipated, and, I would have to admit, I was a little skeptical at first. That has completely changed. These speakers sound like speakers four times their size. Some reviewers have described them as being "forward". Usually that comment means that there's too much high-end. Well, these speakers are forward, but that's only because they have an incredible high-end. The mid-range blends perfectly, reproducing vocals without dominating the sound spectrum. The bass response is astonishing for a speaker this size. I'm an apartment dweller, and I'm not sure I would add a subwoofer even if I weren't. They are that good. These speakers have a modern, high-tech look. I'm so glad I made this discovery. I highly recommend these speakers. They are more than worth what you spend for them.

Great performance; A strong contender in its price range
I use Focal Theva No 1 speakers with Yamaha R-800A amplifier. While I am very satisfied with this set up, I wanted to have another set of speakers that sparkles a bit more for rock and modern pop genre. This SVS Ultra Evolution Nano serves that purpose perfectly. It really shines when it comes to upper frequencies. The down side is that midrange is a bit subdued compared to the Focal. In other words, it does not produce flat sound curve, but for mid-heavy mixes, Nano sounds more pleasant for my ears compared to Focal, which shows much heavier mid-range presence. For vocal heavy tracks (e.g., Diana Krall, Carpenters, etc.), jazz or classical music, however, Focal is the winner hands-down. Depending on the genre and the mix/mastering of music, I switch back and forth between the two sets of speakers. When the midrange sounds weak on some mixes, I sometimes play both sets of speakers simultaneously. Just don't play it too loud when you use both sets of speakers, as Nano is a 6 ohm speaker and Focal is 8 ohm speaker, where the combination may be a burden for your amplifier. In any case, both Focal and Nano require a great subwoofer for sure. For that, I ordered SVS subwoofer to replace Klipsch subwoofer for better musicality.

Amazing Quality and craftsmanship
I’m no audiophile but what I will tell you is I thought a speaker was just a speaker. I was absolutely wrong. These svs hit hard and sound so crispy and detailed that my wife and I were amazed at the clarity. Yes they are expensive but you get what you pay for. I totally recommend and would buy them again especially with the 5 year manufacturer warranty.

Perfect size, perfect sound
Love the sound and quality construction. The more they break in the better the sound. Seller sold used like new and it was like opening a new factory fresh box plus an added box was wrapped around factory box to protect factory presentation, thank you.

Very well engineered, some ear fatigue due to unnatural high emphasis
Was impressed by the clarity and the broad frequency response of these very compact speakers. They are very heavy and dense, and their solid construction and porting seems to help to create some excellent bass response, even better than some speakers with 6.5 mid-woofers. The diamond coated aluminum tweeter has a great response and reproduces high frequencies crisply without any changes to EQ. The look and feel of the speakers is different than anything else on the market and looks high end and expensive. The piano gloss finish is immaculate and the overall look was one of the nicest of any compact bookshelf speakers I have owned. Think of a higher end beolab speaker from B&O as a comparison in terms of the fit and finish. Given the aesthetics and form factor and immediate appeal of the sound I really wanted to like these more. There is a slight boominess to the bass, however, and a lack of presence of the vocals due to the mid scooped response. They are striking sounding at first, but I found the emphasis of the high end created some ear fatigue with time. I will admit that with some good DSP and EQ these could be neutralized and you’d probably be doing these in your listening environment anyway if that is important. For a relatively small mid-woofer driver this is probably as good as you can get in terms of reproducing the spectrum, but I needed more midrange clarity for my musical preferences (vocals, horns, chimey clean strat sounds). I will confirm that good power output is needed to drive these optimally, but they are surprisingly efficient and are probably better than their rating.

Another great SVS product
If you don't have F U money but still want quality, SVS is always there to fill that audiophile void. These are my travel-for-work speakers on jobs that are just a few months long. I use the SVS Soundbase and the SVS SB-1000 Pro and it's just a joy to have such balanced detail in anything I watch. It shouldn't matter, but it's nice to have speakers that serve as decorations as well.

little speakers, big sound!
Filled out my 7.1 system, they are being used for rear surround speakers. They aren't completely broken in, but are sounding fantastic! Definitely little speakers, big sound!
