This is a great knife for sourdough, and the blade is VERY sharp. It does come with a guard, so make sure to keep that on. The guard had fallen off in the cabinet, and my teen barely grazed the knife blade and it nicked her.

This item is perfect for cutting fresh sourdough or any homemade bread. I have baked my own sourdough bread for years and have struggled to get through the crusty outer layer without crushing the soft inside. This does the job!
