Get them sealed in your ears and they're worth every penny...
I gave these a 5 star review, but I do want to qualify that. I'm a critical but reasonable guy, and I question blanket 5 star reviews. That said, these are completely worth it WHEN DONE RIGHT. So some details...I'm a truck driver, and I wear these all day long - the sound isolation from background noise is very welcome in a loud environment like a truck. To be clear, you can hear with these on and not playing (just like with plain earplugs in), so don't go yelling at me that I shouldn't drive with them in - I'm not stupid. :) These are my hands free setup. But what about the 5 stars? Here's the deal - these are everything you've read elsewhere when people gush about them and possibly more, but ONLY WHEN THEY SEAL WELL in your ears. Without the seal, the magic is lost. Thankfully these come with just about every option for foams/flanges you can want, so figure out what's comfortable for you and use it. In my picture you can see that I'm using triple flanges- they seal best and have the best sound isolation for me. But notice that mine aren't white like the ones that come with these? The white Shure flanges are too big for my ears, and aside from being uncomfortable, they deform and lose seal after only a couple days. There are smaller triple flanges here on Amazon (I believe they're claiming 'medium') and those are what you see in my pic. They fit me perfectly and are very comfortable. Comfortable enough that I wear these for over 12 hours a day every day... and they have that perfect seal and isolation needed for the drivers to sound their best. I cannot overstate how critical that seal is...With all of that said, I also use mine with the hard cable, not wireless. I did try the wireless module just to hear it, and it's extremely underwhelming, but I knew I wouldn't use it mainly because of how long I wear these (had a set of SE215's prior, so I already knew how long I'd have them in for). Using these with the actual cable gives the best sound quality and obviously longest life (no battery involved). The included audio only cable is quite good too, and replacements are easy to source online if you damage yours or have the itch to try 'better' cables (psst, don't bother for better). One thing I find myself really loving is that unlike most other high end audio gear, these are a great option for daily carry duty in a special way- because of their 9 ohm impedance these are very easy to drive, and anything with a 3.5mm jack can do so quite well. My phone is a Note 9, and with these it sound amazing when listening to music, no external amp/dac needed. No extra piece of gear to carry around with you, needing charging, cabling, etc. This is an awfully convenient way to have excellent sound with you at all times, and when you get home you can use your 'better' equipment and really go nuts. But even off only a smartphone, you're getting 90% to 95% of the capability, simply because they're easy to drive (electrically). For comparison, I like my music loud, and with the 215's I had I would always be up within a click or so of full volume- with these I rarely get into the red (under 70%), and am often around half volume. It's plenty loud even there with only my phone driving them.On the value proposition, I gave it 5 stars as well, and here's why - I got these at the current $699 price, a full three hundred dollars off of what was the normal price. They still have a 'newer' version that is still a grand, and these are the exact same earbuds as those, only this kit doesn't have the newer bluetooth 5 module. That module can be had for just over a hundred bucks, so this is a great value option to gets these fantastic drivers for a reasonable price (relative). Plus, as an added value point, since these are so good without an amp/dac, you save that cost you would otherwise have to get that awesome sound you want. Something to consider, for sure.5 stars, I say! All day, e'ry day. just get them sealed in your ears...

Worth it.
I am a musician, a pro, have been since 1989. I am a drum and piano teacher. Unfortunately, like most musos, I never paid much attention to the gear I was using to listen to music with. Until 1993, when a student shamed me for having $5000 drum set and a $60 boom box. He proceeded to initiate me to the joys of hifi.I’ve had my share of good sound system. I also own several good pairs of headphones, like the Grado 325. I am not an expert, but I know when something sounds good. The Shure e846 were a revelation. I could hear everything. From the warmth of Mrs Ella Fitzgerald breath to the breathing of the cello player in Beethoven 9th symphony last movement, to the tick of the nails on the strings of the guitar in the concerto de Aranjuez. Everything was there.I could hear Louis Armstrong hidden notes, the ones he holds after you hear the lyrics, those notes I didn’t know existed. I could hear the stage of The Police concert on Certifiable. My ears bathe in the details. Most of the time I am amazed at the attention people like Simon and Garfunkel put into their singing. Every day, I discover something new and fascinating about the music I listened to all my life.Yes, the price is steep. But They are not fragile. I almost never leave them in their box. They are on the table or in my jacket pocket, or plugged. They feel sturdy and well made, Very comfortable to where they sit on the ear.Still, the sound! The sound! That why I paid the big bucks, and I had no idea it would be that worth it.

Well worth the purchase.
Purchased the SE530's years ago and were the best Shure had at the time. Saw the 845's for a great price a few months ago. After listening to these since, the 845 is a strong step up in the depth and nuance. Definite way better low bass. From deep bass to treble is very even and clear. The only compliant is the BT-1 bluetooth. There is a large amount of compression where at least a 30% drop in overall sound. The resultant sound is like a $100 chinese knockoff ear buds. Other than the BT-1, watch the price and get these and stick with a direct wired connection.

Outstanding
I am not an audio technician or musician, but I use earbuds for 1-2 hours every day during my workout sessions. Years ago I purchased the SE 425's, then upgraded to the 535's. I have now used the 535's for several years and have been quite pleased with the quality of the sound, fit, and overall durability. As a special treat, I have now upgraded to the 846 (black) and am absolutely delighted with my purchase. The bass is truly subwoofer sound, the highs are clearer and the midrange is nicely balanced between. Prior to purchasing, I was concerned about size and fit of these, as they are just slightly larger. I quickly found that they fit my ears perfectly and seem nearly weightless. A snug fit of the foam plug is essential and these work very well to block outside noise and allow for the best listening experience. For the money, I would have to say that the 535's give the most for your dollar, but the 846's are a clear step up. If they are to be used frequently, and better yet, if they keep you fit and out of a doctor's office, then they are money well spent.
