Worked right out of the box. The codes are read from the OBD port and the reader even translates the the code. It is definitely plug and play. If you have any mechanical savvy and understanding you would find it easy to use. It is also updateable via the internet at the company's website. It has a multitude of functions, more than I currently need, and hopefully will ever need. Additionally it will reset the dreaded "Check engine light" and clear the fault codes.

You know the situation, where you’re driving and all of a sudden the check engine light comes on. It creates a little bit of anxiety. A little bit of fear. With this, you can keep it right in your console or your glove box and if the need should ever arise, you can always find out what it is. Or you know you always have that one coworker that’s driving around with the check engine light on and they have no idea what it’s for. This would be a great opportunity to help them out too. It’s nice and compact extremely easy to use who you are. For the price it’s real hard to beat.

I bought the Launch Creader 3001 as a backup diagnostic tool—something to have on hand just in case. Thankfully, I haven’t needed it yet, but I’m glad it’s there. It’s a compact, plug-and-play OBD2 scanner that powers directly from the vehicle port. I tested it briefly to confirm it boots and reads basic data, and it worked without any setup hassle. The display is small but readable, and the cable feels durable enough for occasional use. It supports full OBD2 functions like reading and clearing fault codes, I/M readiness checks, freeze frame data, and even Mode 6 and Mode 8 tests for onboard monitoring and EVAP systems. For a budget tool, that’s solid coverage. Bottom line: If you want a reliable, no-frills scanner to keep in your glove box, the Creader 3001 is a smart pick. It’s not something I use often, but it’s ready when I need it.

This is one of the handiest tools in my toolbox! Have used it on the family's Honda S2000, BMW, Scion FRS, Kia Soul, Jeep, Ford Maverick and VW Taos to diagnose small issues. Packaged nicely and the handheld unit is easy to use. Display and menus are intuitive and results are clear. Displays error codes and allows clearing of codes.

Excellent code reader quality is good and it works great tells wrong clears the codes

First off a bit about myself because a lot of reviews are not accurate because of the lack of knowledge. I have been a mechanic for over 30 years and have owned two diesel equipment repair businesses. Make no mistake. This is Launch of China, they are the same manufacturer that makes Launch Tech USA, but Launch Tech USA has their own software. First of all the box showed up water, damaged, and upon opening everything was extremely dirty, but it didn’t look used. Some of the components were damaged during shipping, but were in usable condition. After opening the box I noticed that the tablet was a 2020 year model, not a 2023 like the ad claimed! An account was made, the unit was charged and fully updated, and then plugged into an International Maxxforce. The unit would not connect to three different International trucks we tried and in said on the screen that “no International software was found“. The scan tool was then plugged into two different Dodge trucks, none of which preformed automatic connections, and the Vin number was entered manually. One of the trucks, the scan tool would not clear a code that my Snap-on Solus had no issue clearing. After contacting Launch of China to make them aware of the issues, they told me the unit needed to be updated. Again I performed all updates available, none of which pertained to any major heavy duty truck manufacturer or auto manufacturer for that matter. Again the unit was plugged into an International truck with the same results. After this, I looked into exactly what software was included on the scan tool, and there was absolutely no software for any major manufacturer like John Deere, caterpillar, Volvo, Hitachi, Cummins, Detroit, International , etc. NONE!!! Emailed the company twice with pictures and information to which they have not replied. A little extra kick to the teeth, in the ad it said that a free gift of a Creader 3001 and a borescope would be included free of charge and all you have to do is “add them to your cart and they would automatically include them free“. Never received the borescope, and they charged me for the Creader 3001! Thank God, Amazon was gracious enough to push a return through, even though it was past the 30 day return policy. Launch of China is not to be trusted and I will never purchase any of their products again.

Reader seems to work fine and codes are easy enough to Google to get some more information. The update process SUCKS though. I'm pretty computer savvy as it's part of what I do for a living and I almost didn't figure it out. A simple scan tool update should NOT be this confusing or difficult, hence the 3 star review.

Bought this 3 years ago so that we could scan our fleet vehicles in house and save on the cost of sending it to a mechanic. Works excellent with all vehicles I have used it on. Very easy to use. I bought one for myself at home
