Pole pruner review
Bought this extension pole pruner mainly to help remove ripened pear fruit from a tree in my backyard. Pears don't often fall naturally from trees when they ripen like apples do, and some fruit were as high up as 19 feet off the ground (couldn't climb this tree or shake the fruit down either). So anyway, the first time I used it, I was able to prune off 38 pears in just 15 minutes which is much better than I expected to do. The pruner blades have both sharpened and serrated edges to help facilitate the cutting of stems and branches. The telescoping bar has preformed holes in it to extend and lock the bar in place at one foot intervals (five holes in all). The total bar length is actually closer to nine feet than ten, but when you add the saw attachment, you add another foot or so to your reach giving you ten feet plus your height plus your arm extension. The tooth saw attachment blade is very sharp, about 13 inches long, and basically just screws in (red turn screw) near the top of the bar using the smaller middle hole on the blade. I mention this here only because you are left to figure this out for yourself (no instructions are included). I won't have a chance to use the saw tooth blade until this winter for branch pruning, but I do not anticipate any problems. This item is a little pricey due to the added saw tooth blade, but in my opinion, it should last for some years, and it certainly will be cheaper than paying a contractor to do the work every year.

Really Good But Could Be Improved
I have been using and enjoying this tool. I rated it a 4 out of 5 due to two issues. The first is that it doesn't cut thru as large of diameter branches as I would like, but it cuts thru the sizes advertised so this is just me wanting to cut a slightly larger branch size. The second issue is that it should come with a shoulder strap to assist in supporting it's various lengths. If it had come with a shoulder strap I would have rated it a 5.

Barnel Ultra Reach Telescopic Pole Pruner
The Pole Pruner is of good quality and is easy to operate. Extends simply by pushing in a pin and sliding out or in. However, am a little disappointed in the pole pruner overall. It's great for small limbs, etc. , but, to cut limbs up to maximum size is a struggle. Takes a lot of 'squeeze power' to cut those larger limbs. Also does a good job of holding onto things that one is cutting. I have another one of these that is a fair amount shorter and they all work good...just not for larger limbs.

GREAT YARD HELPER.
PRUNE HIGH FROM THE GROUND. PRUNE WHERE YOU CAN'T REACH. IT'S ADJUSTABLE AND IT IS REALLY A GREAT PRUNER. I WAS ALWAYS BORROWING MY NEIGHBORS AND JUST HAD TO HAVE MY OWN. I HAVE A BAD BACK AND NOW I CAN SIT IN A CHAIR (THAT I DRAG AROUND) AND PRUNE ALMOST AMYTHING I WANT. HIGH OR LOW OR EVEN BEHIND THE BUSHES WHERE I CAN'T REACH. A REALLY GREAT TOOL. WISH I HAD PURCHASED IT SOONER.

Makes Difficult Jobs Easy
This pruner is worth the extra cost. The big advantage is that it holds the pruned branch. Another advantage is that the head pivots 180 degrees to allow pruning at any angle. After I got this one, I got another one in the 2 foot length. Both are great.

Awesome tool. Works great and really makes cutting high branches extremely easy. I used it on my robellini palms and it cut through them like butter. The company is also very professional and responsive.
