Good for anyone, not just singers!
I bought this as a supplement to train my ears on piano. The exercises in this book are excellent for ear training/interval training and learning the relative quality of pitches (where they fall in the scale) without worrying about a complex solfeggio system. It's also strong with different rhythms and meters. The book claims to be for singers with little formal exposure to reading music. I think it'd be rather difficult to learn from scratch with this book, to be honest. Rather, I see this as a next step after learning how to read music to train your inner voice and your inner ear to recognize intervals and rhythmic patterns so that you can audiate before playing/singing.

Recommended
Every musician (amature or not) will benefit from reading music and practicing singing (even if your “just” doing backup). This is a great way to learn intervals by ear too. This book is a streamlined way to do all this. It provides everything you need to know in order to start doing your homework. Excellent tool/reference.

Great book for new singers and those learning piano/music in general. You can go back to the exercises again and again even once you've advanced because they are great for warming up your voice, tuning your ear and rythym. My voice teacher had me buy this book and I'm glad she did!

Excellent Sight Singing book
It came so quickly - so a bonus on that. The book itself is filled with good exercises to help with sight singing. Excellent for beginners, as it makes things easy, while working your way into more advanced techniques. For more advanced singers, it is good practice. As a future teacher - I would recommend this for a classroom that deals with aspiring and beginner musicians.

Great and helpful book
This book was recommended to me by my voice teacher. I am music director for my college a cappella group, and use it to help the members understand everything from rhythm to key signatures to learning solfege. A great tool for any music teacher.

Worst binding ever
This book is falling apart after 5 weeks of gentle use. The binding is really not up to the demands of being flat on a music stand. I am going to try to take it to a copy store and see if they can cut the binding off and make it into a spiral. The book itself is okay. It really annoys me when books that are written for musicians don't make the material easier to use. Publishers don't think about how the book will be used--it really needs to be able to open and stay flat on a music stand without falling apart.

Bel libro per ritmo
Buon libro che fornisce qualche rudimento sulla lettura della musica e poi si concentra sulla lettura, focalizzata sul tempo e sul ritmo

The best sightsinging book I've used.
I am a music teacher (though not of singing) and find teaching sight-singing one of the most difficult parts of my job, I never enjoyed doing it myself as a student, but this book is fantastic with a clearly presented and easy to understand method coupled with hundreds of simple drills and exercises which really develop the student's technique. Many of the exercises are suitable for self-study and I encourage adult and advanced students to purchase their own copies for homework and self-study. I have used ABRSM, TCL, and RSCM books in the past with only a fraction of the success I've achieved with this book. Hardened 'Classical' teachers shouldn't be put off by the 'Pop'/'Jazz' elements which pervade it. This book is a must-have for anyone teaching singing, sight-singing, aural skills, and general musicianship at any level.

As a music graduate student, I needed a method to help me stay sharp in my reading skills for choral participationand solo work. I have tried a few others. This book fits my needs; I look forward to my daily practices of at least 15 minutes.Sometimes without thinking, I have practiced longer. Lots of variety and needed skills to practice. Thank you.
