Does what it says on the cover
Very useful book that gives the reader invaluable knowledge.Rather than chucking a bottle of the latest overpriced alge quick fix in the tank spend the money on this book and get to the root of the problem.

Ojo
No es un libro de ayuda para determinar algas, sino para usuarios de acuarios que quieran librarse de ellas. Buenas ilustraciones.

A book for any level of saltwater hobbyist.
I've been in this hobby for a few years now, and whenever I befriend a newer hobbyist who doesn't own this book, I buy it for them. It's just that good.Nuisance algae is the bane of any aquarium keeper, and saltwater tanks have a number of different species of the nightmarish green death. This book is invaluable in helping to diagnose and treat for any number of different kinds of outbreaks, spanning all three main groups (red algae, brown algae, & green algae) with many problem species described in detail. Julian Sprung is of course one of the best-known authors and businessmen in our hobby, and this book is the culmination of many years of his research and experience. He discusses the root causes of specific algae outbreaks, what to do to correct them, and what clean-up-crew animals are known to eat each unique alga. He has a section devoted to the clean-up crew and details each animal so you can decide what critter is best both for your tank size and the type of algae involved. This isn't a large book, nor is it terribly technical to read. It was written for the beginning hobbyist in mind, but advanced fishkeepers will get a lot of information out of this as well. I highly recommend this book as part of your personal library, as it is a reference that you'll find yourself returning to if and when new issues crop up. You'll be glad you did.

This is Saltwater-Specific
This is a specialist book for the most serious hobbyists. (IE if you know and refer to the inhabitants of your tanks by their scientific names.) I would imagine that every serious marine aquarium keeper should have this book in their library and refer to it as needed. Maybe I missed it in the product description, and it is not so obvious in the title, but this book does not deal with algae in the freshwater aquarium. (Tho I'm sure that many of the concepts and the science crosses over) In summary; A Must-Have for the marine keeper; and still useful for the most serious and advanced freshwater aquarium hobbyist.

Quintessential aquarium book prior to the internet. Still relevant.
This the home reef aquarist's bible, along with the rest of the series.
