The clip makes it easily portable, of course, though it can't stand on its own. The IP67 rating and rugged design make it suitable for outdoor usage; it has a very solid feel and nice heft to it.This paragraph is copied from the Go 4 review, as Bluetooth and buttons work the same on both devices, though the front button push of the Clip 5 feels crisper: Getting it connected takes less than a minute, though the optional app lets you customize the equalizer and see more information about it. I love that I can just turn it on and have the audio transfer over without any fuss. The buttons on top are also easy to distinguish, and the side buttons slightly divot in and will push in, so they're easy to distinguish in the dark too. Very thoughtful functions all around and solid build quality (I've already dropped it once on a hard floor without issue), especially at this price.Clip 5 vs Go 4: Though I already have the Go 4, I was leaning more heavily towards the Clip 5, and wanted to have one that'd stand on its own without needing a separate case or item for a stand. The Go 4 seems to start louder (had turned both down all the way first), though it can sound minorly more tinny with lower quality audio with lyrics. I'm guessing that some may not even notice the difference. For higher quality music or progressive/house, the difference isn't too noticeable, though the Clip 5 definitely has better bass (where you can feel it) due to its larger speaker and size.It's a shame Amazon, as the seller, hadn't had Sand in stock to match the Go 4 I already had, but the white look matching JBL's brand colors is very nice too and probably fits better in more formal environments.Onto Auracast: They were fun to pair together with minimal delay (whether via app or button push), though it's important to note that there's a minor bug in the app. If they're added to a party in the app, it doesn't seem like pressing Auracast on the device will remove it from the group. For stereo pairing, there needs to be two of the same device, which is pretty common for functionality like that.

I just received this little speaker and wasn't sure it would pair with my blue-tooth transmitter that is connected to my HDMI2 control box. I wanted a speaker to hear the TV better as I work in my kitchen and to not wear my blue tooth ear buds quite as long during the day.So it took a little research to find out that the little JBL Clip 5 speaker can be paired with the transmitter, but found that I needed to install the JBL Clip 5 app onto my smart phone which then becomes the 'operating system' for the speaker. So to get this all to work, I have to have my phone connected to blue tooth which then connects the JBL Clip 5 speaker and to the transmitter. If I go into my phone, it can knock the speaker off the blue tooth transmitter, but all I have to do is press the speaker's blue-tooth button to reconnect.The speaker's sound is excellent, and I can take it to all parts of my house away form the TV's blue tooth transmitter . . . just what I wanted.

Best purchase this year. I have multiple large/medium size portable speakers but I wanted something with a smaller footprint to listen to audio books while diamond painting. I also love the color purple and it is saturated and vibrant. Sound-wise, this speaker more than delivers. I was surprised at how it was able to reflect the variations of cadences in the narrator's voice making a clear distinction in characters. The speaker seems durable with a handy carabiner on board, in addition to being waterproof for poolside retreats. Functionality was intuitive for operation and connection via Bluetooth. The sound quality while listening to music is more than I expected from such a small unit. No distortion was detected regardless of the speaker's position. The bass is rich but not overbearing. There is also an app that can be downloaded for additional features. I purchased it on sale at nearly half off which in my opinion was a tremendous value. I was so impressed, I purchased another one for travel.

This is a very high quality good value for your money that works well durable that also has Bluetooth capability I don't just use this for when you're on the beach cuz it's water resistant you can literally go 3 ft down under the water for 15 minutes without this damaging this device I use it for the TV I put it in the back of the room and literally everyone can hear everything that it does it's almost like it's meant for the TV Great quality sound and all you have to do to wash it is dip it in some water cleans it immediately air dry it's just really a magnificent purchase and buy we bought two

I used the JBL Clip 5 several times during a recent trip to Hawaii, both in our resort room and at the beach, and it performed really well. It’s super compact, lightweight, and easy to clip onto a bag. The sound is surprisingly full with good bass for the size. Battery lasted several hours (I fully charged it before each use). I haven’t tested the waterproof feature yet, but the build feels solid. The vibrant purple color is a nice bonus, fun, and easy to spot. Great little speaker for travel or everyday use.

Excellent sound at a distance. I use this in my 1/2 acre yard and am so happy to not have to carry my phone around in a sling for sound. Had previously tried a Tazata speaker - sorely disappointed in quality of sound and clarity. This tiny gizmo has so much more bang for fewer bucks. Charges quickly; have not used it long enough to comment on charge-use time. However, I really recommend this little speaker - clear, powerful, projects quite a distance.
