We are very happy with this Murphy bed. Solid wood and very well made. Instructions could use a little tweaking, invite a friend over for a pizza (you’ll need the extra hands), take your time and you’ll be fine. It is perfect for turning an office into an office/guest room. It was a little white/boring, and a very light coat (not great coverage) so we gave it some color inside with peel’n stick wallpaper and some decorative knobs on the front. We also added a small handle in the side of the lid to make it easier to lift open and close.Now it feels like a cozy little nook. Also, the recommended mattress fits perfectly and folds seamlessly for storage when the bed is closed. (updated 9.16.2024 to answer questions asked by others)

Do I have a functioning bed? Yes. Did getting it shave years off of my life? Quite possibly.First of all, just getting the bed was a journey. It arrived in two shipments and the second ran so late that Amazon sent a replacement. Replacement boxes and the original second box arrived on the same day. Once I got the bed assembled (read more below) it took multiple calls to Amazon and separate visits from UPS and Amazon to get the replacement boxes returned. A lot of the shipping and return process is contingent upon you being able to be home for several hours at a time during business hours.Assembling the bed took approximately 4 hours WITH a specialized drill that had a hex-shaped drill bit that could work with the types of screws you see with assemble-yourself furniture. Cannot imagine having done it by hand with the wrench they provide. The hardware box was missing screws and some of the screws included were not long enough to do the job for which they were intended (see picture) so we had to go to the hardware store and figure out replacements.Once assembled, most features of the bed work but the paint job is very thin and parts came out of the box already scuffed.

First of all the #6 screws strip out like it's their job, super unimpressive. Secondly there are no real instructions just pictures to follow so be super careful. Third it looks like it is primed not painted so be prepared for that. It took forever to build and takes two people. For the cost I wish they'd used Philips head screws and actually taken the time to paint it. Wouldn't recommend it honestly but now it's together and no force on earth could get it apart with the number of stripped screws in place, so here we are. My phone corrected the paint issue in the pics so you can't see it well. It's splotchy and looks like it needs painting.

I purchased this bed for the second bedroom in my tiny, 2-bedroom Boston condo and it makes me feel like I finally have a comfortable place for my guests to sleep! I use this in my home office, so it's only occasionally used as a bed, and it looks great. I will say, definitely grab a second set of hands to help you assemble, because it was not easy to do solo.

Let’s first admit this was not a beginner project and certainly needed 2 of us to assemble. It is sturdy, heavy and good looking. Did I say heavy? The white paint looks a little thin so I plan to paint and seal the seams with caulk to make it look more high quality, but compared to the $3-6k the furniture stores want (and they were still rickety( this was better value for the money.

The paint on this is terrible. There are splotches all over it. Very challenging assrmbly, so sending back not an option

Critical pieces were missing. Had to return. Refund was delayed & hopefully that is resolved. At first I was impressed at how everything was packed & labeled—-but there were lots of missing parts!

I am very pleased with this Murphy bed! The desk size is perfect and the build is very durable. A trifold 6” foam mattress fits perfectly
