Best estate planning book on the market
What I love about NOLO publishing is that the company was born out of the frustration of two legal aids who are trying to help Nolo was born of the frustration of two legal aid lawyers who were trying to help low-income families in the San Francisco Bay area in the late 1960s. They found there was no way to help all the working people who didn’t qualify for free legal aid yet couldn’t afford lawyers. So the company was born in 1970 and they’ve been creating legal how to books ever since.I picked up this book cuz we are creating a trust as we are both aging and we live in CA. We are working with someone to create the trust, yet we needed more information about all the questions they were asking us.Getting this book truly opened my eyes to all I don’t know anBout our assets, how to break them down, what assets to put where. Chapter 2 Taking Inventory was one of the best chapters to help us understand the importance of the law and our assets. I’d get the book just based on that. There’s so much in this book that’s incredibly valuable, even if you decide to hire a lawyer, you will know who’s much more to guide you.Others have out pics of the table of contents so you know what’s in it.It’s 369 pages of value. Plus they share with you how you can access their forms on their site.I’d highly recommend this book. NOLO as a company is incredibly well respected and you won’t go wrong picking up a company. It will save you money, time and fried in estate planning - promise!

This was delivered to a house whose photo I did not recognize. Some nice neighbor (I suppose it was a neighbor) just brought it to my house.

From Universal Topics to Specific Scenarios, Estate Planning Book Is a Must!
You don't comprehend how vital estate planning is until something tragic happens. If you don't know where to start or are just curious about the process, this estate planning guide from Nolo is an excellent jumping-off point. The guide really walks you through the various phases of the planning process. Some areas will be more relevant to some people than others, but topics like "making an inventory" and "creating a will" are almost universal.Nolo has made it easy for you to decide if you need to invest time reading through a section to see if it applies to you by having a "Read this chapter if" box at the beginning of each section. That way, if the subject matter doesn't apply to you now, you can move along to the contents of the book that you need assistance with. What allows me to highly recommended this guide book are the example worksheets and the ability to download companion worksheets that you can fill out on your own. That way, you can take what you've learned in the book and put it into action on your own. Many people (including myself) don't take the time to think about estate planning until we are faced with a situation that demands our intention. This book definitely allows you to get out in front of the process and explains in detail the methods that will grant you peace of mind when difficult times arise.

Covers all the bases in plain English
Very complete book. Not the most exciting to read, but the subject matter is serious so you're not expecting entertainment. I have not read the entire book yet, but it covers all the topics I needed advice on - Wills, living wills, trusts, probate, powers of attorney, etc. Speaks in fairly plain English and makes the issues easy to understand. Nolo books are usually a safe bet for explaining legal topics and this book is no different. Price seems on the high side for a paperback, but you get what you pay for with the quality of information.

A great tool to get you going on a task that many people don't think about or procrastinate about.
As a law school graduate, and retired attorney, I know how important it is to document your wishes for your property or children when you are gone. I, like many others have procrastinated about creating a will and planning my estate. This informative guide from Nolo is a great tool to guiding you in the important task of planning your estate. It's 388 pages are well organized and things are explained in a manner that makes them understandable for the layperson. You can also download several worksheets and forms from the Nolo website. It has been many years since I studied Wills and Trusts in law school and I found this publication very worthwhile in getting thing organized and planning my estate. The book even suggests which situations really should have professional guidance from an attorney.I would recommend this publication to anyone who needs to plan their estate. Whether as guidance for a simple will or as a tool to organize your thoughts before you visit with an attorney for more complex planning matters.

Great Information To Read Before Making Important Decisions
I have a pretty good idea of the basic paperwork that I need to complete ASAP to document and clarify my final wishes so I picked up this book to be sure there is nothing that I'm missing. There are over 350 pages of information with examples of different scenarios along with some solutions. Each chapter starts with a brief synopsis of content which is helpful. It addresses the questions as to whether I can do it yourself or when an expert needs to get involved due to various complications. Worksheets can be downloaded from the Nolo website and the information applies in all US states except Louisiana. I have not read the whole book yet, it's a lot of reading but so far it's been very informative. I've always been a fan of Nolo products and so far have never been disappointed in their content.
