Vornado - what can you expect with a name like that?
Greetings,Founded in the 1930s the name Vornado is a word combination of Vortex and Tornado.Surely it's just marketing hype? With the rise of "Made in China" products, most fan manufacturers now sell anemic fans. Gone is the trusted CFM specification on the outside of a fan's display box. CFM is Cubic Feet per Minute. That quantity of air a fan must move in one minute was the ONLY way to judge the efficiency between electric fans. Nowadays they all have anemic "junk" motors that are very, very disappointing. The recent spate of appalling window fans is a good example. Junk!My antique, 16" 1912 table fan, set low, will just about knock you over. On high it is just downright scary! While the term CFM is also, unhappily, missing from today's Vornado display boxes, they do taut the range of just how far you can feel the breeze from their fans, which actually is better imagined then CFM.My medium-sized Vornado table fan has a range of some 85 feet! So without any CFMs specs on competitor fans being sold, I trusted my experience with Vornado and purchased their latest Vornado Tower fan.It arrived a day early. The display box was substantial and attractive, with the tower fan nicely protected inside. The Vornado Tower fan is beautifully contoured with a long plastic, faux chrome handle that really makes the fan look modern and "snazzy".Some angry customer reviews complained the fan is noisy, it rattles on high, or doesn't work right out of the box! Well let me tell you - my Vornado is impossible to even hear on low. On high it operates at a whisper. Any distance from the fan and it is again silent.I needed a small "foot print" tower fan at the end of my hallway where its oscillations sweep two rooms. That way I can cool both my bedroom and computer/den simultaneously. Now the display box and manual both claim this fan has range of 65 feet. Well, let me tell you, I was sitting about 25 feet away and around a corner from the hall entry, busy at the computer working. After a time, I suddenly realized I was freakin' cold with a blast every 11 seconds! I had to get up to turn down the Vornado's speed control.Up until that time I was not necessarily impressed with the high setting. Perhaps its the quiet of the fan that fooled me. But I retract it now as I have, on several occasions, been frozen out of my den or bedroom as it oscillates back and forth on high. Finally, I think I may have solved the issue of those Vornados not working right out of box. I believe the "touch sensitive" buttons, which operate the fan manually, rely on the change in capacitance when a finger approaches the sensor to touch it, since the body itself acts like an additional capacitor, hence providing an additive charge to the touch sensitive buttons to manipulate them. Some people carry more electrical charge on the surface of their skin than do others. I had one hell of a time getting used to the buttons myself, finally banging on them to make the Vornado respond. I discovered that more often then not, my finger tips just don't have much electrical capacitance to speak of. But my thumbs do! Also, just barely touching the buttons is far more effective than pokes and punches.Of course for the electrically "challenged" folks out there, Vornado supplies a small "clicker" remote control. But you MUST point it at the FRONT GRILL for it to read the signal. My conclusions are: No rattles. It is silent to whisper quiet. It Shoots air the claimed distances easily. On high it can get freakin' cold. And, the fan's buttons work just fine - it is you.Having made a short story long, I am absolutely delighted with my Vornado Tower fan. It is by far better than the old "famous name brand" tower fan I demolished in fit of rage a week earlier. And, I do not regret paying the higher price for easily the best fan on the market. If looking for a top-flight fan always look to the Vornado brand.

Quiet (nearly silent), Small Footprint, moves a lot of air, works with Alexa, and, Made In USA
Previously I had two Vornado fans that lasted 45 years and 31 years so this purchase was a no brainer. I purchased 2 of these for my apartment to move air around and they work fabulously on the low (nearly silent) setting with oscillation. I really like that I can control them through Alexa! Alexa pretty much makes the timer button obsolete as I can use Alexa to set any interval I wish!Quiet, Unobtrusive, moves a lot of air.I originally purchased the first fan to assist in the pollination of tomatoes growing in my Aerogarden Bounty Elite hydroponic garden but fell in love with it and purchased the second for my bedroom!I had a problem with the second fan and Vornado promptly sent a replacement that arrived here in 4 days! Super customer support and they speak native ENGLISH because they are Americans.

Great, no frills fan
Pros- strong- quiet- small footprint- connects to Alexa automatically- easy to set up- straightforward (few features)Cons- no remote included in this model- few featuresThis fan is great for cooling down a small room. Airflow is strong at medium strength. On low it's very quiet but still noticeable. The only features it has are a timer, power level, and rotation (but you cannot adjust the degrees of rotation, only whether it's on or off). This can be both a good and bad thing. It makes using the fan very simple since you don't need to fiddle around with all the different settings. However, that also means you can't customize it all that much either.Only major downside is that there is no separate remote for this fan. As someone who cannot get out of bed unassisted, that could be a problem if my Alexa stopped working. Luckily, that rarely happens. Lastly the fan connected with Alexa pretty much as soon as I plugged the fan in. Was surprising how smoothly that went.

Just what I wanted and a lot sturdier than you'd think
Quiet, efficient, space-saving, and has survived three tumbles off the bed because the cats can't seem to leave it alone. Despite hitting the floor and a few things rattling around inside, it is still running like a champ.

Impressive output
Excellent air flow. It's not as quiet as the fan I'm replacing but I'll take a little more noise and a way better fan! Very happy.

Excellent Fan.. Cheap Remote
I liked this fan so much I bought another one a week later. It was a cinch to assemble with a small Phillips head screwdriver. The power of the airflow is excellent. It’s only downfall is the POS remote control that it comes with. If you drop it on hard wood floors it will fall right apart.. but you can pop it back together & it will still work. The price is excessive, however the 5 year warranty sold me. Also, the intake on the back needs to be cleaned about once a week since it’s black & attracts dust. All in all it’s great, just buy it. It’s much better than all the other cheap fans that last a few months & if it does break you’ve got 5 years to get it fixed or replaced.

Buen producto
Este ventilador hace lo que promete, el sonido va de acuerdo con la intensidad a la que funcione siendo la más baja muy silenciosa. Si tuviera que ponerle un pero, quisiera que girara un par de grados más, pero es todo.

2nd Vornado
And I am starting to love this company when I need a good quality fan with some power. This is my second and I'm as happy as the model with a stand that I've purchased. Haven't had to hit anything for the 5 year warranty yet but if it holds up, they're by far the best fans (this and the other model) I've had. I go through a lot - either the oscillation goes or the fan itself gets noisy or stops working. These have been flawless thus far. Will update if that changes. Hope it doesn't.******UPDATE****** Fan starting making an audible high-pitch sound about 6 months in. They say "5 Year Warranty" so I figured no problem, I'll contact customer service. Went to the site, filled out a ridiculously detailed warranty claim and heard nothing back. Tried again. Nothing. It's now been a month and a half.*****Update 2***** Called customer service who acknowledged my "instructions" email was never sent and have begin the process of rectifying the problem for the return.

Muy bien
Por el tamaño del control está muy pequeño y se puede extraviar muy fácil, y el pedestal está muy pequeño, pero cumple con su función.

Blows Hard
Did alot of research online about fines and landed on this one. It did not disappoint! Great tower fan, perfect to aim at you and cool down. Flip the remote upside down and the rubber is grippy enough to stick on top.
