I have many knife sharpeners, a cumulated over the years. They all seemed to die ( wear out, perhaps?) eventually. This one works easily and I have sharp knives and scissors again! Life is good. Alert: it’s designed for righteous hand use.

There were no instructions. Did not seem to sharpen the knives.

Arthritic hands are not able to use a whetstone anymore. This manual sharpener is perfect. It also sharpens my scissors.

I first tried the sharpener with a pair of scissors I use around the yard, from opening packages to cutting up food scrap for the compost bin to pruning tomato plants. The instruction says "using suitable manpower to clamp the emery roll...", I pulled the scissors through Slot 1 several times. The scissors seem sharper. I then used the scissors to cut up 3 buckets of pine needles as mulch.Then I tried it on the one knife I own (Wusthof 8" chef knife I have owned since 2005). I pulled through Slots 2-4. Then I sliced some chicken thigh meat. I was not impressed. Next day I pulled it through Slots 3 and 4. I then used the knife to chop some carrots, shiitake mushrooms, garlic...seems to cut better than before. I don't have any tomatoes around to truly test the sharpened knife.In the past I took my knife to the supermarket 15 miles away which offers complimentary knife sharpening. Then the past couple of years they changed the policy where they won't sharpen them while I shop. I even offered to come back in a few hours but they still refused. They require that you leave the knife for 24 hours. They don't mind if you don't pick the knife up for a week, but since I only have one knife, that is not feasible.So far I am happy with how the sharpener performs.On the box where it says "Method 1, Method 2...), I think "Slot 1, Slot 2..." is more suitable.Definitely watch the videos.

I have never owned a knife sharpener before, and I was worried I would mess up my knives doing the process incorrectly, but when this came up to try out I took a chance. I'm so glad I did because it really works. The instructions are written on the side of the box, I wish it had a separate card I could keep in the drawer in case I forget, but it is pretty straightforward. My knives are noticeably sharper. The non-slip tool stays in place while using it, it's not flimsy or cheap at all.I love that even my 30+ year old scissors are like new again - amazing!It's small enough to fit into a drawer when not in use, and after years of going without one I think this is an essential - every kitchen should have one. A little knife maintenance every two weeks and I never have a problem slicing through anything anymore! Thank you!
