Fast and easy to use solid SSD
A great fast and easy-to-use SSD high-capacity drive! This drive is perfect for all my photo libraries. It is small enough to sit on my desk without taking up much room. It does get hot, which is perfectly normal and not a problem. It is so much better than some of my previous WD drives, which would take ages to mount on the desktop. It is expensive, but I would say very good value for money, especially if you need a good, solid, reliable system.

Nice compact, high capacity SSD
Great device, looks really nice on the desk. Not cheap but worth it for reliable storage. Comes with a USB lead and power supply so you can promptly get started up. During operation it does get very hot to the touch but from other reviews this seems quite normal.

Works well and is portable
Not cheap but it’s relatively compact and portable. Ideal for my MacBook Pro photo library.

Good drive - bad plug design
Big fan of Sandisk products have many of their SSDs - like the fact this is 8tb only reason it's just 4 stars is the plug is badly designed - in my 10 way plug the head covers the plug the other side rendering the other plug outlet useless. In general a good drive though.

Solid reliable device
Makes light work of transferring files from old computer to new one. It sits under my monitor and is a joy to use.

Be Aware of Start Up Quirks
Though it now works fine - I did at first think I had a defective item. Mainly because of the lack of written instructions supplied. A small leaflet shows how to plug it in to computer and a wall socket. It does not say on the leaflet or on the product description before purchase that the item should be plugged directly into a wall socket and not a power strip. Initially I plugged it into a power strip fed by an uninteruptable power supply and it just did not work. Unless I unplugged the unit and then plugged it back in. Eventually after delving arround on the SanDisk site I found I out that it should be plugged in directly. Additionally I also discovered that I had to let my Dell XPS Desktop fully boot and load all start up programs before switching the device on. Then it is recognised and works fine. It is a bit disappointing to find these issues after purchase as I might have looked to an alternative product as I have never had any issues with external drives before though this is my first external SSD.

Cavernous
Difficult at this stage not to award this SanDisk 8TB SSD drive the full five stars. Although it has a somewhat surprising shape it can easily be tucked away somewhere unobtrusive on or under your desk. It is supplied with multiple interchangeable plugs to suit global power outlets. I reformatted the drive for use on a MacBook Pro and it replaces a traditional HDD as my main drive. My only slight area of unease is that it is noticeably warm to the touch at all times, so are hoping this is not a cause for concern later on down the line. SanDisk is part of Western Digital and the drive comes with a 3yr warranty. At the current price of just under £600 it is a considered purchase but can recommend for its capacity, technology and form factor.
