Hi there, This lift is only for transfer. I don’t think a cushion would work with this, as it may affect the height. I returned this lift because the handle broke after a few uses

Q: where the wheels are does that bar open to 34" wide?

Don’t get this lift . It broke after 3 uses the turning mechanism broke . Also it couldn’t lift my father to bed height and he weighs 130 lbs . Save your money

Q: Why does your product brake after just a few uses?

It does not do well on carpet and one of the wheels broke but they quickly sent out a new one. Hope this helps
