Master of the League of Shadows
Cool figure. What a rare treat having an action figure made out of the likeness of Liam Neeson. Interesting that it took the people of Movie Masters to use this movie to bring him in. But he did have a nice cameo in The Dark Knight Rises. Still a part of me prefers the brought in Crane in his face. But some actors are sensitive to being an action figure. Perhaps Cillian Murphy only preferred his character as an action figure as long as he was masked. Good thing Liam Neeson was up for this. This figure looks really nice as this depicts Ra's Al Ghul at the last act of Batman Begins, complete with the gas mask he wore. Its a shame this didn't have him bring any weapon like the swords his cronies use. With this sixth figure in the Dark Knight Rises Movie Masters completes the Build-A-Bat-Signal. This includes the component that lights up a small light emitting diode that's a little bright. Included are instructions that show you how to install three triple-a batteries and a list to connect all six components together in the Bat Signal. (1) The primary base, (2) the secondary base that spins like a turret when is connected to the (3) swivel which includes a small area that connects the lamp that has the light move up and down. The lamp components are the (4) battery pack with the LED (no batteries are included), the (5) part that connects to the swivel and finally the (6) lens. When connected the Bat Signal is very nice, everything snaps in place perfectly unless one uses some force to pull out the components. especially the swivel and the lens. The battery pack has the switch which turns the power on, but not the light. Under the lens is a little button that turns on the light. ITS BEAUTIFUL!!! Well worth the wait. The signal emits a nice light with the Batman Begins symbol, not super powerful, it is only a toy. But it works very well. Only the button lens emits the light for only 30 seconds, probably to help conserve power.Especially appropriate to play with after watching the very end of the movie.

Figure comes with LED battery compartment piece
This figure comes with the LED battery compartment piece. It has the instructions to assemble the bat signal. Once you get the bat signal assembled, put in 3 AAA batteries, press a little black button under the bat signal barrel, and then switch the light on on the back, and the bat signal projects a couple of feet. The extra button is very important and prevents the LED from being on for too long, saving life of your batteries. There is just a "click" picture on the instructions, so I figured I would explain it here in case people were having trouble figuring out how to get it to work.As for the figure, this is highly detailed and articulated and comes with a little mask piece that goes around his face. I like the figure a lot. It is 5.875" tall. He has a jacket that comes off, and tie. He has 5 ranges of motion on each arm and each leg. He sits down fully at 90 degrees. His head turns to the side and up and down slightly. His waist turns and he has an ab joint that goes back and forth. He has fighter gloves on his hands that are slightly opened so you can put an accessory weapon in there, but the package doesn't come with any weapons for him. I guess you need to find those separately. No batteries are inside this package. You need to buy them separately, 3 AAA. But the LED is part of the piece that comes with him.

Awesome figure based on a 15 second scene from Dark Knight Rises
The last figure released in the Movie Masters Dark Knight Rises line, this "secret" Ra's Al Guhl was a bit of surprised when it was announced. The figure is a moderately boring sculpt of Ra's who looks like he's from the latest movie but sports the gas mask from Batman Begins. There's something slightly off in the neck area. The Collect and Connect Bat Signal piece does make up for the deficiencies in the figure. It includes the light up portion of the signal but does not include batteries. It's one of the more complicated bonus pieces Mattel has done to date.

"I told you I was immortal."
For whatever reason, Mattel is keeping their final figure in the Dark Knight Rises Movie Master line under tight distribution, making it nearly impossible to find on most chain retailer's shelves. Every now and then Ra's al Ghul will be spotted in the under twenty dollar range here on Amazon, but unfortunately, scalpers have beaten most of us to the punch, hence the ridiculous prices you're likely to find here on any given day. I won't get into the politics of whether or not this is "fair," but as someone who thinks even the average retail price point of about $17 is still a bit much for what you actually get, I'm happy I lucked out on a total fluke and snagged him up when I did.As with anything there are pros and cons to this figure, based on Liam Neeson's character in Christopher Nolan's Batman films. Starting with the face, it's a fair enough representation of Neeson, though perhaps a bit more so in profile than looking straight on. His brown hair, including his goatee, is sprinkled with bits of gray for a realistic "salt and pepper" look which I thought was a nice detail. My only complaint is that his lips are bit full and his mouth is hanging in an awkward half-open position that makes him look permanently dumbfounded, which is about as PC as I can get here if you catch my drift, lol. Still, it was a welcome surprise to have this figure exist at all with a brand new head sculpt seven years after his initial appearance onscreen. Body-wise he has many points of articulation and is very flexible, but if you've been following this Movie Masters line at all then you already know how Mattel loves to re-use parts, so this suit and tie look is one we've seen many times before. However, being completely repainted in a slick black hue, it does have a certain air of class and dignity that is character appropriate. For accessories he comes with a gas mask, as well as the main power source piece of the "Build a Bat Signal" which will require three AAA batteries to use.So overall Ra's is an "okay" figure that I'll round up to four stars with the benefit of the doubt. In itself it's not an incredibly exciting figure to look at, and the price will absolutely be a dealbreaker for many people, but he looks awesome as part of a bigger collection and is an integral part of the Dark Knight universe worth getting a hold of if you have the opportunity.
