The product is excellent. Initially I was just going to buy one because wooden blind I had previously installed stoppen working. It was supposed to be a temporary fix while I made arrangements to install plantation blinds. But once I installed it, I noticed it was a true blackout and it does keep the heat away pretty good, so I ended up buying three of them. Now, it does feel cooler and nobody can tell from outside whether there is light in or not, which is an added safety feature. Having said that, the last of the three curtains I purchased was damaged. Initially, It did not go up at all, after getting to the end and giving it a pull, now it stayed rolled up and could not hold it down. I had to secure it with clothing pegs just for it to stay down while I contacted customer service. That was another ordeal: if you click on the return link in the Amazon page, it will take you to the vendor's customer service page which they don't seem to check, at least, my message went unanswered. So now I had to contact Amazon customer service, and because it is a custom-cut product, it was sent back to the vendor. The vendor tried to resist sending a replacement as much as they could. They told me to fix it myself and they sent me a video with instructions on an Asian language for me to follow. So no, this would not work. It seems obvious to me that I am not an expert in this and nothing prevents from my "fix" to go wrong after a while once the return period is over. I paid $160 for this product and I paid to have one that works. After quite some going back and forth, they eventually did send me a replacement. And it does work, just like the first two items that I bought. The five stars are this for the product, not the experience.

Installing these are crazy easy! Making sure each of the brackets are straight with one another is important. I found securing the middle first then marking and drilling one of the two front/back holes of each bracket ensured they could be adjusted slightly if needed before drilling too much out.I've made two purchases, six total blinds, and have mounted both inside and outside the window frame. I prefer the aesthetic inside the frame, but there is less light going outside the frame as there will be overlap with the wall/frame.My only issue is ever single ones of these goes up at a different speed. I have one that will snap up in an instant and another that I can trigger to open then go open all the others and that first one is still slowly climbing up the window.

I bought this to cover up the backdoor in a downstairs living room that we use as a media room with a projector. I needed something to darken it up just a little more and this did the trick. The measurement is for the bar at the top so make sure you account for that when measuring, I could’ve gone up in size another inch or so to ensure no light comes in the sides. I gave a 4 star because the blind has one spot where the blackout has chipped off but I noticed it after installing and didn’t want to take it down to return it. Rolls up and down silently and smoothly. Would definitely buy again!

Ordered this on a whim on Prime Day because they shipped faster than the Wirecutter-recommended blinds I was considering from Home Depot. These were straightforward to install, did an excellent job blocking light and looked clean and neutral. I still wanted to try the other brand and installed their blinds in a different room about a week later. That installation process was much trickier than these blinds and they left a bigger gap on the sides despite being the same width as these on paper.

The blinds themselves are of good quality. However the mounting screws were extremely poor. The first 3 I tried to install in the pilot hole the heads snapped off. Went to a local hw store, purchased replacements and the blinds went up easily.
