Fantastic replacement of Kindle Paperwhite
I've owned a Kindle Paperwhite for 11 years and decided to upgrade since the newer e-readers now have a more gentle backlight with less blue light. I bought both the new Paperwhite and the Kobo Libra Colour to compare side by side. The Paperwhite was hardly an upgrade from my 11 year old device--plus it is heavier, larger, and harder to hold. The Kobo is much more lightweight, comfortable, and ergonomic with the wide side bar and physical page turn buttons. I can easily and comfortably hold it with one hand. The user interface on the Kobo is also much cleaner and less in your face Amazon-store-junky. I can also access Libby directly from Kobo to easily check out library books. I love how you can change the screen brightness by just swiping up and down on the left of the screen instead of having to go into the menus. As for the downsides, I wish the screen was a tad brighter since I almost always have to have at least 15-20% brightness turned on. The color is also a nice touch but I wouldn't say it's vibrant.Overall, I find reading on the Kobo a lot more comfortable and natural than on the Kindle. I would probably only return to the Kindle if they brought back the Oasis and cleaned up their user interface.

Kobo Libra Color is Worth Your Money
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I’m so glad I bought the Kobo Libra Color—it’s a product that’s on par, if not better, than the Kindle. One feature I absolutely love is the page-turn buttons; they add such a satisfying, tactile experience. It’s also incredibly lightweight and easy to handle. The color display is another highlight—it really enhances my reading experience, making it feel more like holding a real book. The battery life is excellent, and I find myself using this e-reader more than my Kindle now. Adjusting the screen brightness is also much more intuitive compared to the Kindle. Overall, in my opinion, this is the superior option. I’m so glad there’s a great alternative to the Amazon brand. The ironic part? The Kobo Libra Color is actually priced cheaper on Amazon than on the Kobo site!

Absolutely wonderful
Pros:Super simple to setup. When I say setup in including overdrive (if you don’t know it’s a way to check out library book virtually. I don’t have a physical card just an online card)Online book portals like project Gutenberg are a breeze. It uses google drive or drop box to sync. No more downloading to computer and then moving overPage turn buttons (yay) and they flip if you are left or right handed. And the buttons are snappy and responsive. It’s an ereader of course the color isn’t on the same level for a lot of electronics but for the purpose it serves it’s perfectly suitable.I LOVE I didn’t have to pay a premium price to remove ads.battery life is pretty good if you don’t have WiFi turned on.If you like to pay the subscription it’s 7.99 a month for ebooks and 9.99 for ebook and audio book. And I did a free month and the selection is pretty stellar.I think the thing I like the most is the integrity of the company not wanting to create highway robbery with prices and features.ConsI like the idea of the journaling and notes but I feel like the stylus is a bit expensive. Granted I have an iPad Pro but the kobo is obviously smaller and easier for simple lists. I’ve been told there are aftermarket stylus but I have not looked. The cases available have no way to store the stylus.I’m not a fan of the natural light option. I use it I just have the auto feature turned off.My opinion:I am honestly relieved to be moved off of the kindle platform. I hav no complaints at all.

Physical Buttons and Waterproofing Sold Me
I bought this because I needed an e reader that could handle getting splashed at the pool, in the tub, or during travel, and I wanted physical page turn buttons. On those fronts, it absolutely delivers. The screen includes a color layer, but for my use, it hasn't really come into play. I mostly read black and white text, and since I keep the device in a case, even the color book covers aren't front and center. Some people might find the color useful depending on their reading habits or apps, but for me, it's not a factor either way. What I do appreciate is the backlight. It works just as well as my older generation Kindle Paperwhite, and I like that this device includes a night mode that shifts the light to a warmer tone. It makes reading in the dark much more comfortable. The display isn’t quite as sharp as the Paperwhite, and the color layer adds a slight texture that gives a faint screen door effect. It’s noticeable if you’re looking for it, but not a dealbreaker, and I got used to it quickly.Where this reader shines is in durability and daily use. I’ve taken it on plenty of trips, tossed it in bags, and finished a lot of books without issues. For the around 230 dollars I spent it’s been well worth the price.I don’t use the pen, so I can’t speak to that feature. Personally, I’d love a version of this device without the pen and color tech to cut costs and maybe improve clarity, but what’s here works fine. It’s not pocket friendly, especially in a case, but might fit in a cargo pocket if needed. I usually carry a messenger or satchel, so portability hasn’t been a problem. If you’re looking for a water resistant ereader with physical buttons, good lighting, and solid performance on the road, this one’s worth considering.

Great e-reader
I love the page turn buttons and ease of use. Loading books on is very simple. The integration with Libby right on the Kobo is nice for borrowing books from the library. The screen is a bit darker than the Kindle Paperwhite because of the color, but you don’t notice it unless comparing side by side.
