Hardwood Elk Call of Calls - The Biggest Leap in Elk Call Technology Ever!

I purchased this call for an upcoming archery elk hunt in Idaho this September. I was a little skeptical about it and hesitant because of the price ($40). But then I thought, in the grand scheme of my hunt, what's $40 when I'm spending so much time training, shooting and preparing for the hunt. This call works great and is easy to use! VERY EASY. I haven't been able to master cow calling with a diaphragm mouth call yet, and I wanted a hands free "mouth call". I really think this elk call is great and I highly recommend it, especially for those that can't use a diaphragm mouth call. No, I'm not associated with REEL game calls in any way, nor was the call given to me for a review. This thing is just super easy to use and it makes good cow and calf sounds!

Awesome call. So easy to use. Could be a little louder. But overall a wicked call my 14 year old son picked one up and sounded like a cow after 30 seconds. Great product

I am getting some great sounds from this. I'll agree it isn't quite as loud as an open reed but this is by far easier to master and much easier to get a good range of sounds. To me it's a game changer. We'll see how it does in a few weeks. If it holds up the $40 price tag won't bug me.

Not as sleek and operational as advertised. Wud have just bought the something else.

This call has very little volume, I messenged the makers of this call as I thought I seen it advertised with extra laytex, they left me a very nasty message, they told me that the l latex would last 5 year's, I've certainly NOT SEEN an advertisement stating it would last 5 years, he then went on to say that any Home depot or hardware store would have laytex that would work as replacement laytex. These are statements verified statement from the seller replied to me. So if you want a call that has very little volume and costs almost $40, be my guest, somthing tells me that this call WILL NOT last 5 year's. I will stick to the proven Primos calls!!

Here is quite the dilemma. Do I rave about how prompt this company was getting this call to me? Do I tell everyone how non-cheesy this call is. It's convenient, easily packable, comfortable in the mouth,and extremely realistic without that horrible plastic vibration feedback-like squawk other calls can have. Do I pass the word around to my buddies and others on trail about how good this call really is? Well the other side is do I not give all the good word and keep it a secret like a few other secrets I've come up with in my 35 years of archery elk? Just stay quiet about it like I've done with my private tricks. The same reason I've remained a solo hunter for so long. As for the negative reviews on volume ... might be from some of these over-callers sounding like a marching band that I run into. I figure they deserve some good word so I'll do it in this review ... but that's it. Not saying a word around here and it'll never be in the open with others around. Fair enough ...

I find it very difficult to find the right time with this call

This call is legit. I just crawled out if the Colorado forest after 5 days of elk hunting. I was in elk every day and gave this call plenty of use. I brought in cows several times, stopped two different bulls after bumping them, and calmed the bull I ended up killing yesterday after he heard me walking through the woods. Great call and completely effective.
